The Chinese people suffered greatly during the Cultural Revolution. The level of terror was arguably greater than what African Americans experienced in the South. Still Chinese immigrants have largely overcome this adversity and achieved success in the United States. This suggests that the American criminal justice system is not solely responsible for the high incarceration rates of African Americans. While there are certainly problems with the system, it is also important to acknowledge the role of individual agency and community factors.

tema sempre atual, incomodo aos corações sensíveis - por desejarem algo diferente, tanto quanto aos corações insensíveis, por desejarem a manutenção do status. Precisamos falar, refletir, pensar e agir mais.

This is why I don't like USA, the injustice is created not because they cannot control it, its because THEY DON'T CARE!!

Injustice? Lol more black people claiming to have gone through racism in the west, let's make a book about how black and white people get murdered in majority black countries, let's talk about how black communities are accepted in the west and set up all over the west while no whites have settled in majority black countries because them countries dint even gave equal rights, let's talk about the rights you have in the west that include the right to speak freely in public without getting murdered, let's talk about the murder rate in brazil and south Africa

Very powerful discussion on the impact race and economic status has had on the imprisoned population. I look forward to reading more of Stevenson's work and learning more about the intersection between race and incarceration. Great TED Talk!

I have no words I’ve discovered this man’s existence a month ago and have just now watched this TED talk and I am in awe. I cried of pain watching the movie version of his book “Just mercy” knowing that it is based on real life stories. He is actually inspiring👏🏾

brought up some good points and facts about inequal results BUT conveniently ignores the actual causes like the cultural problem, fatherless problem, wealth and education disparity problems, normalizing crime and violence problem ect.

Power to your identity Bryan.
Your sobriety is praiseworthy.
Working with prisoners, who are supposed also to be sober, it's a virtue that you are likely more able to negotiate your fight for justice. The corruption seeps in where alcoholic so-called leaders in society and especially judicial & legislative officials feel they can make good decisions while embracing intoxication and over-intoxication.

We should all be sober for peace & harmony.

(I don't drink even tea or coffee nor do I smoke or drink alcohol.)
