To shield well, the metal on a faraday box does not need to be thick or many layers. You need an elastic conductive seal gasket. (Think of blocking air or water.) But not tiny holes but slits are the real problem, because even if narrow, the gap makes wavelength shorter than it pass through.

Thus build an elastic conductive seal gasket. Professional shielding doors or old TV tuner cases have a row of tiny copper contact springs (like tines) around the entire gap. But an easier way to build this is gluing conductive metal mesh shielding tape over a strip of window insulation foam tape (silicone is most durable, others may decompose by touching metal). I used this inside my PC bigtower to shield the door rims.

A faraday box will also help to protect your data media (e.g. USB stick, portable harddrives) against EMP by the now coming nuclear war or a nearby lightning strike. Important is that they only work when closed and no cables etc. is sticking out.

What a stupid useless counterproductive piece of technology. A system that hackers can easily get into unless you keep it a box or pouch that you have to carry around, then open to get the key out, then put away at journeys end. Where's the benefit ?

Btw, FobBlocker is an alternative which doesn't need to be put into a pouch each time. It instead shuts off the key fob battery after being motionless, and wakes up the fob when you're on the go. This makes it impossible to steal the signals while the key fob is resting (ie like at night).

i used some aluminin foil and with my keys in the car the car could not sense the keys. i also turn off all blue tooth functions in my car, and pull certain fuses to discontinue any data sharing
