Devil's Violinist definitely had sync issues. But it definitely does make such a difference when they hire real musicians that know what they're doing. An example of where they don't do this that springs to mind is Star Trek The Next Generation. It's so bad when they have extras that appear to accompany when Data plays the violin. Clearly, they can't replace Data as he's a main character but good night, they at least could hire real musicians as the extras.

I love how Brett and Eddy are cringing at the audience in the 2nd movie but that is exactly how I would react if I ever watched David live

Great movie but I imagine there weren't many real musicians.

I feel like that kid was crying because of how many times they had to run it back to get it just right.😭😭😭 also i'm so back in pagini's time they were truly the rockstars of their time with people swooning over them which isn't all that ridiculous to believe.

Together is a masterpiece. Once of the best movies ever. Great story. It's a coming of age movie. A movie about the sacrifices parents make to their kids succeed. The photography is incredible.

Camera Obscure is one of the oldest inventions, it is thought that Aristotle used it to study solar eclipses. People used the camera obscure until magic lanterns were invented. It's likely supposed to be a magic lantern, which replaced the camera obscure in the late 17th century. The Magic lantern would go out of favor for the projector and film camera. It was common to use Magic lanterns in the 19th century, which I'm guessing it's supposed to be.

I didn’t realize until now, the first clip with the real violinist playing Tchai, they used a video performance of someone else (with a woman violinist in the red dress) with an orchestra
We don’t see the soloist end the piece with a full shot of him with the orchestra, and also the two men looking up to him doesn’t seem to be sitting in an orchestral venue and the background doesn’t match as well

As a pianist (not as good as you guys are on the violin), I have the same issue with fake piano playing in shows. Amadeus was a fun as dickens movie but the fake slamming at the keys was visually distracting.

The Devil Violinist had a great thing... and it Was David Garret but other than that it was just a violinist version of Amadeus.. and thats just Sad... and Cheap.. and definitely a waste on David Garrett Talents.. the real story was interesting enough to put urbani character there ruining it.. but still grad to see some movie about a classical musician instead of something about modern sourless music

Violin is such an old instrument.
But it's nice that history buffs like yourself keep old stuff alive

It's almost like going to museum, or a dig site discovering ancient history.

As someone else mentioned, the light used in the circle was a limelight. Its first use in a performance is said to have been in 1836. That is 4 years before Paganini passed away so it is at least in the ballpark, though of course Paganini in the movie is not near the end of his life. He was however doing his world tours in the same decade as when the limelight was first used in performance so I would rate this as accurate enough so as not to be an embarrassment as in the fake musicians in most films. The other person who indicated limelight surmised a parabolic reflector though which would be the case of a limelight projector or follow spot. BUT in the case of a shadow play the shadow would be too blurry. So when reflectors were used at all for shadowily they would more likely be a spherical reflector as the shadow would be crisper.
