The reality is... why do genuine people kill themselves? And why do fake people tell them to kill themselves.

This is what I always teel to my family and friends: you don't have to follow the trend. We have different minds and we have to use it.

It took me awhile to realize why I pretended to be someone else most of my life. My father wouldn't allow me to of be a kid. He was an abuser physically and emotional. I walked on eggshells until I was 16 when he died. I have still struggled to please people most of my life and I'm 65 now and free thanks be to Jesus.

Be true to yourself and it will be easy to be genuine to others.. be yourself first and foremost

It is super hard to find real genuine individuals. You know if they are or aren't due to how effortless they give, they apologize even when they are not wrong just to keep peace within the relationships. But these people get used, get lied on, get stabbed over and over again. Until it becomes overkill. When this genuine being leaves your life for good, take accountability for what you put that person through for so many years. But know that because they are a genuine person, the love that they have you will never die. They just know now to set proper boundaries. Happy Monday!!!!

This video has some great points but sometimes being fake can be a good thing ,
such as if you are running late for work and angry and someone asks you how are you doing? and you fake smile and say fine.
its better to be fake and act nice than to be an angry person.

It's interesting to see how so many people in these comments have just watched a video that tries to bring across a point about taking ownership, not pointing blame at others... and then spend their time explaining in an online comment thread how their company rewards fakers, or how being genuine is disapproved of by others thus limiting them.

Surely we can do better? If you consistently follow through on your promises, treat people with respect and don't spend your time on trying to be something you are not - at some point this gets noticed. And if you feel that your environment does not tolerate your authentic self, you can do the work to either change the environment by talking about these ideas and ideals, or switch your environment (I know, easier said than done).

What does it mean trying to be genuine? For socially inept people with good intentions, they may desire to be good and polite to others but don't know how to do it. Is it truly bad if they try to see how the world handles such things and then follow it?

What if being your authentic self means you're a negative and toxic person..... and of course you know that being your authentic self will cause some pain and misery to other people so what you do is put on a mask and try being nice to people..... I guess my question is.. Is being "Good" is what considered as Authentic?
