This scope is about 4-5oz too heavy, the reticle is a lil thin (completely unusable at 3x) and the parallax/illumination turret is GOOFY long!!
I wanted this scope for an SPR/Recce build with an offset red dot (but I am left handed) and that goofy long turret stuck out so far it got in the way of the red dot.
Illumination is not something you need under time sensitive pressure...they should all be push button moving forward like NF, Element Theos, etc.
No turret should ever lock (its 2024 turrets do not move from being bumped) and illum should be push button....my advice to the scope world =)
I just got the xtr ll 5-25x50 with the scr mil reticle. I have no idea what all the lines and numbers mean in the reticle. and what do all the hundreds of lines mean on the knobs. wish someone would put out a video explaining all this is and what it's meant for.
Ответитьmy Burris 8-40X GLASS IS NOT AS CLEAR as my pst gen 2 at 25 X..........
ОтветитьGreat vide review! Thanks. RE: XTR II 3x15 SCR MIL. Optics for the money are unbeatable - bright, clear, wide field of view, good eye relief, easy to use at max magnification. Build quality and ergonomics are a 9.5 where Valdada, Nightforce, S&B are 10s but cost 3x more. Two small nits: 1) the printing on the tube showing magnification power is nearly illegible: the paint is 1/4 as white/clear as the markings on the turrets which are perfect. Would be great to see Burris engrave these and fill with platinum white paint. 2) the illuminated reticle is fine, but at brightness settings where u can see it well (relative to ambient light), it increases apparent thickness of the mil-hashes making them tricky to read. Still a cool feature, but could be 10% improved. ps: the Burris AR-PEPR Scope Mount 34mm w/ Picatinny Rail base is perfect for this scope on any gun.
ОтветитьGreat review, I really enjoyed viewing your input, especially comparing the two scopes I am looking into. At the time of filming, you were comparing this to the gen 1 PST, correct? Would you still pick up an XTR II over the PST gen II or is the newer line (gen II) quite a bit better than the older line of PST scopes?
ОтветитьGreat overview. Yes, Steiner is involved with this Burris line. I have a 1-5 power on a delayed roller lock and it does everything it's suppose to.
ОтветитьEYE RELIEF OR FIELD OF VIEW IS IMPORTANT, NO ONE WANTS TO BE LOOKING THROUGH A TOILET TUBE; HOWEVER, IF INCLINED, TAKE A LOOK AT LEUPOLD'S SCOPES, BUT YOU MAY NEED TO HAVE THEM PUT ON YOUR MICROMETER SETTINGS FOR ELEVATION AND WINDAGE AND IF AVAILABLE, YOU MAY ASK ABOUT A PARALAX ADJUSTMENT, BUT THEIR FIELD OF VIEW IS NEVER OBSCURED ON ANY OF THEIR SCOPES. THEY MAY COST A LITTLE MORE, BUT MAYBE NOT IF YOU HAVE THEM BUILD YOU ONE...THAT IS IF LOOKING FOR EXTREME ACCURACY.
Ответитьthanks for this video. just purchased a 3-15 over the pst. glad I did. cant wait to get it though
ОтветитьHonest question, I understand the need for daylight bright dots but with magnification and a reticle for aiming why would a shooter need a daylight bright reticle?
Ответитьhow do you rate the Primary Arms platinum 1-8x ACSS glass compared with the Burriss XTR and Vortex razor gen 2?
ОтветитьI have heard that the pst has better glass by almost everyone. Which is true
ОтветитьI would like a comparison to Sightron and Hawke scopes in same price ranges. Will put on Weatherby Mark V in .300 Weatherby Mag and customized Remington Model 700 in 7 mm STW.
ОтветитьIve got the 4-20x, features are great, turrets great. Glass is more comparable to the Japanese stuff not the European
Ответитьis the illumination actually daytime bright? like aimpoint bright?
ОтветитьWhat are your thoughts using the 4-20x50 for hunting?
ОтветитьWhere are they made?
ОтветитьLink still active? Tracking question... Is/was the tracking of the XTR 2 spot on?
ОтветитьWhat scope would u get for the 1k price range. I don't want to go over that. I'm shooting a 308 and will probably go 6.5 after this next summer. Im stuck between the vortex viper Gen 2, Burris xtr2, and the Bushnell dmr. What would u go with? I like to shoot in the 800yrd and up range.
ОтветитьDoes it com in mrad?
ОтветитьAny update on this scope?
Ответитьafter watching this video im really thinking of getting the xtr over the pst but is the razor hd a good option? wich one has better glass any advice on wich to choose will be apreciated thanks.
ОтветитьI wonder how the glass compares with the Leupold VX-5HD series that advertises HD glass. Anyone know?
ОтветитьSo if your going out over 1000 the 4-20 is the ticket ?
ОтветитьHighjak86!!!!!! NEED HELP MAN!!!! (or anyone else)
I am about to purchase the 2-x10x42, model 201022 just like the one you are reviewing here. Now everywhere I see model 201022 available, they show it not having the illumination knob... If you do a quick google search, you may see what I mean. But many times it SAYS the scope has illumination in the description.
Of course yours has the illumination and parallax in the same knob, so why doesn't Burris or MANY other retailers??? It sometimes says it in the item descriptions, but other times it does not, and most places I see with model 201022 it doesn't have the illumination in the picture... wtf right?
And I get it man, no shit I have to ask the retailers themselves for clarity lol but can you just answer this question PLEASE : There isn't "sub models" of the same model for 201022, right? That model ONLY comes EXACTLY as yours, right? Otherwise it should have a different model number... But I'm not getting the help I seek from the retailers themselves.
Thank you so much for your review, man. I've been subbed for a couple years now, otherwise I would have subbed haha cheers from New Mexico!
3-15x version on sale at OpticsPlanet for $687.59 w/ coupon code: JINGLE
ОтветитьWhere the hell did you put the battery? Nothing in the documentation. I can only assume it's the torx screw on the left side (nothing included fits)
ОтветитьI just received my Burris XTR II with a Horus reticle. I am impressed with the glass quality of the Burris scope. The Horus reticle is illuminated with a ret dot every 2 mils which is very nice! Will compare it to my Nightforce ATACR when I get the Burris mounted on my Mega Arms Maten AR-10 6.5 Creedmoor I just finished building.
ОтветитьHey HJ ive been watching your long range AR vids pretty much exclusively bc of the info you offer. I have a question for you... Well more of a request for your expert assistance... I have an 18" rifle gassed Ballistic Advantage stainless 223 wylde barreled AR 15 that i am in need of a good scope for... Now i must add that i have never shot long range except for twice so i am just starting.
Quick build list: anderson recv set (the fit is so amazing!!! Literally no rattle! Also am awaiting on a truing tool to accurize the upper to barrel), fixed utg rifle stock a2 length (have a vltor ARM on way), BA ss 223 wylde 18" rifle gas barrel with a standard birdcage flash hider (for now until i get my omega suppressor and then the asr mount will go on) with an ofin adj gas block (will swap to superlative arms eventually). 15" seekins mcsr rail (bitchin rail).
Standard polished colt trigger with jp springs that will be replaced with a 2 stage larue mbt soon...
I am looking for a rifle scope in the front focal plane with an illuminated reticle and i really would like it to habe decent tracking. I like the PA 4-14 especially foe the price but im completely overwhelmed here... Id like to spend as little as possible but want a good scope bc this is a sub moa barrel (at least my 16" BA hanson is and they guarantee it) and i woild like to get out to 50p yards... I dont really need a bdc but need to keep the cost around $4-$500 at the highest... And am looking at getting that high value utg bipod you reviewed.
IF you have any recommendations for my rifle and especially your advice on a decent scope for longer range i wpuld sincerely appreciate it!
What scope level is that?
ОтветитьDoes the windage adjustment knob have any sort of lock on it?
Ответитьi own the 4-20x, i love the features on the scope but for the price i paid for it im quite disappointed with the optical quality, i've used scopes for the half the price with better clarity than this.
ОтветитьI have the made in Japan 1-8x and I'm very happy with it.
ОтветитьWhat 34mm scope mount are you using in this video? The one for the 2-10...
ОтветитьSub'd. Just bought this based on your review. Nice channel.
Ответитьi have bought 3 of the primary arms 1-6x , you can't beat them for the money
ОтветитьThanks for the quick reply. You're awesome!
ОтветитьReally enjoy your channel! It's been about 7 months since this review and was wondering how you feel about the scope and the reticle now.
Ответитьthe reason the 3-15x is more forgiving in the eye box would most likely be the larger objective lens - giving you a larger exit pupil
ОтветитьAny trigger time with the Burris XTR II 1-8x?
ОтветитьBeing an FFP, is the reticle usable at low power (on the 2-10)?
Thanks for the review!
I personally like the Badger Rings 306-75, USMC M40A3 1.00, 34mm for this optic. Yes they may seem a bit high in price at around $200, but for good quality precision glass like the Burris is worth it.
ОтветитьThank for the video. Great job. Is the eye relief and the eye box better than the PST?
Ответитьdude, please tell me how the heck you set that zero stop. I've been trying and trying and can't get it for the life of me. I feel like you need to put the thing in a vise or get the world's strongest man to help...i know you said its tough, is there a trick to it??
Ответитьgreat review .. been looking for a bubble level and see your installed .. do you have a link for the bubble level by chance? I have always been a Burris guy, great glass!
Ответитьlove your review style. I'm getting into prs style shooting from 3 gun. would you get the burris over the new generation 2 pst?
ОтветитьIs the 4x20x50 enough magnification to get a Savage stealth 6.5 Creed to 1k yards, I'm looking at the 4x20 in the H59 reticle! Thanks
ОтветитьToward the end of this video, where did you shoot? Is that a private, State or Fed. land?
Ответитьhow do you like the h591 reticle vs the scr reticle?
ОтветитьJust bought the 4-20x50 XTR2. Everywhere it is said that it is an exceptional/excellent price/quality ratio scope . "Exceptional/excellent" ....no.....
It is well built, the turret seem to track correctly which is of prime importance, the zero setting is rather simple, it is a good looking scope, nothing mushy or hard to turn, that's already a lot !
It has no locking eyepiece setting, but many don't which is a pity really, simple cheap device should be on every scope.
34mm tube to assure rigidity and to catch the box easily, FFP, turrets matching reticle, this scope ticks the right specifications.
The illumination ring isn't stiff enough it can be turn too easily.
Now, the glass, it is no ED glass and you'll see chromatic aberrations, it is clear and sharp but this is no tier glass .....so you cannot compare it to 2000$+ scopes with ED glass.
This scope is well set at its price and it shouldn't be more than that or it will lose its attraction.
So, it is up to each individual to see if you need top of the line glass, as for me, the chromatic aberrations are not a deal breakers AT ALL. I guess many won't even notice!
Conclusion : very good scope at the right price, and in this price range there are not many scopes of interest, everyone should lurk on this Burris badly.
