You forgot to mention about the flash point of molten wax, this could cause a fireball and potentially cause a fire in your house. SAFETY FIRST.

Thanks for your experiment, my central heating system has broken down, I tried it too., your conclusion was same as mine, claypot can add some heat to an alternative heater on at the same time, it can look cosy too but, not as efficient as some people are claiming.

Thank you Jolita. I use a variation of this to keep my plants warm in a box outside. I dare not use it in the house!

think you may have to plug up the hole.

The total heat energy of the "heater" is no greater than the output of the candle flame itself, the terra cotta pots only distribute the heat in a thermal mass, its a heat sink. By using a larger candle, you raise the output of the heater, and this will only be by the amount of the candle's total output. Many people use vegetable oil candles to sustain longer burn times, and increase the heat energy of the burn. They are easy to make. By covering the hole in the top, you are trapping the heat within the first pot, and stopping the flow of rising heat. If you stack smaller pots atop the first, you gain output area.
I tried this type of heater and found I could only heat a space about the size under my desk, so, it is great of you want to keep your feet warm under your desk as you browse the internet on cold mornings.

After Daniel Tartaglia , it's need 10 or more flames to heat a room that have a good insulation . Another, it's need to have ventilation at this system with flames to make hot air to flow quick . Another, it's good to have a radiation system at your stove . If it's made from metalic boxes that's are for preserve food , don't heat to much to become red because it will be destroyed more quickly . Use more systems of heat for indoor that will reduce smoke : methanol, ethanol, comestibil extra virgin olive oil or raps oil , use a chimney to improve burn and reduce smoke . You are surrounded by free materials that are good and free for heat and cook and have light ,in your house : cotton clothes, paper , cartoons, used oil ,and also at garbage containers and not only, you find wood and many others materials . There are rocket stoves that can be make to give more time heat if you use also sand battery inside .

Thanks for the realistic evaluation of the clay pot heater. Where I live, the old buildings such as mine were built without insulation. So while it never snows here, it also rarely gets warm, except for a total of perhaps five days per year. My energy bills have doubled in the past year, but not due to increased usage. I honestly don't think that this will contribute much to the temperature, plus I would not encourage people here to do this because almost all the houses and buildings are wood. Greeting from San Francisco.

Thank you very much for this. Here in the US our energy prices are not as high, but they are almost double what they were 2 years ago. We're having an Arctic blast right now, so it's a little harder to stay warm.

Watch out, think for a second where the candles combustion waste are gonna deposit? Yeah, on the pots. That's where the evaporated wax will be transferred to. So, you're turning the pots into flammable pots. Eventually, if you don't clean them regularly, they will set on fire. Just waiting for the right temperature to burn. It is not easy to remove wax or grease from these pots.

Thank you for demonstrating the candle/pot heater. I also saw it on you tube and wondered if it worked. I appreciate that you gave us an honest opinion. I love your choice of music. It is so soothing to my soul. Looking forward to seeing your Christmas video. 💕

the popularity of these videos shows how ignorant people really are. if u think you can heat more than a small closet with 50 btus or 6o watts you are going to freeze to death.

We really must be very creative this winter, and so we shall! I have rediscovered an old time friend: the hotwater bottle, very cosy in the evening under a beautifull fleece, the dog loves it too and…..a dog or cat also give a lot of warmth 😂 keep it save and warm, Lieve from 🇧🇪

We have a similar setup that I keep in the car once it gets cold. That way if I get stuck I have heat, blanket, water, and snacks. I hadn’t considered it inside. We have a wood burning stove and live in a rural area with lots of hardwood trees. So wood is cheap if we need to buy it. The cost of heat this winter makes me afraid that people on fixed incomes will either be cold or hungry. Thank you for bringing this up so people can decide how to help each other. Get well soon. 🧡

Well done and realistic about expectations. Hopefully Europe will survive the winter. Thank you for making the video, it looks like an easy thing to do.

Warm blankets, extra sweaters and socks and maybe the clay pot will be just enough to get you through. ❤
