I've been cooking my turkey this way for at least 9 years and it ALWAYS turns out perfect! My first time cooking it I was nervous it won't be as good as the one in the video but I was so wrong! This recipe never fails and what's more important - besides the amazing look, the meat is always tender and juicy. I don't even want to try any other recipes - this one is a perfection.

look great but I always see that other recipes say you should turn up the heat for 40 mins at the beginning to and then turn down?

This video is an excellent introduction. I feel like there could be a whole series based off of it adding on extra steps. Like if you did it once and it worked out fine what should you try next? Basting? Stuffing?

This is absolutely perfect! Last year I had a much smaller turkey that fit inside the crock pot, so I didn’t bake it in the oven. But this year my Fiancé got a bigger bird from work and we had to go buy a pan for it. I hope this goes well, wish us luck 🍀

I need to say the following and I just can't help myself in doing so:

After decades of watching Grandmas, Moms, Sisters roast a Thanksgiving turkey that is always over cooked and dry, despite the oven being open half the cooking time for the basting ritual, I decided I was going to do the bird one year with this recipe. (don't even ask about the time my sister decided that cooking it in a plastic bag was the answer). I do a lot of roast chickens throughout the year. It dawned on me that a turkey is a big chicken. Why the fuss?

This was my fourth year being in charge of the bird. Still a lot of hemming, hawing, raised eyebrows and disappointment that you don't have to fiddle with basting, tenting, stress watching from various generations of, in honesty, wannbe chefs lost in the latest fad that Good Morning America can dream up.

This recipe is dead easy, stress free, perfection. The bird (17#) again, came out perfectly brown and crispy, perfectly moist and tender, and the pan juice made the best gravy my brother-in-law says he's ever had. And my brother-in-law doesn't even like me.

Follow the recipe! Dry the bird. Place on the Veg liner, Coat with the butter and herb. Truss with dental floss (nk it's what we had). COOK TO TEMPRATURE, not the plastic thing someone shoved into it. You will be the star of the day. Promise.

Thank you Chef for teaching us that simple is often AWSOME.
You're AWSOME.
The Turkey was AWSOME!

PS, I make Chef's easy pumpkin pie every year for the past 10 years. It always gets raves and that too is fast easy recipe.

It’s funny how year after year I seem to forget the basics of roasting a turkey… lol. I always love your video… straight to the point. Great for beginners and those of us with a short memory. I always tweak the herbs and spices to whatever I have at the time. ( now I know why you tied the legs BEFORE the butter…. Hahaha. I tried to use floss and my fingers and hands got so slippery and the floss….. hahaha. Luckily for me I had a pic of instructions from the turkey and it did say I could use the plastic clamp to hold legs during roasting! :)….)

Although I've oven roasted turkeys before, this is my first time using this technique free recipe. I prepared it according to the steps, but deviated a bit. To line the bottom of the roasting pan I used a bit more carrots, onions, celery, and added 4 each different kinds of apples. I also used a different blend of herbs and then after they were sauteed and in the cavity, added 2 more tablespoons of butter to the pan as I felt it wasn't enough melted butter to coat my 20# bird. Then, I changed the seasonings a bit and added garlic powder, sage powder, and onion powder to the salt and pepper. I did tuck the wings as instructed. Thank you for this easy way to roast a turkey! Happy Thanksgiving!!

P.S. I used dental floss to tie the legs :)

I've only had two good turkeys in my life. 1 was at a cousin's ex boyfriends house, when they were together, then this 1 when I made it. None of the turkeys any of my relatives have made came out this juicy. I'm going to my families today to eat their dried up turkey. If I lived more local to them I'd volunteer to cook it using this video.
