Is American Derringer of poor build quality?

Does yours keyhole? Paid over $600 for mine and it did, both barrels. Their "smith" told me they had no control over that. Seriously? Sloppy workmanship for such an expensive gun.

I've got one...it's a real bastard to shoot, but the dude on the wrong end has it worse...cosmetics make little difference to me...at social ranges looks don't matter as much as functionality...

How is that small derringer on recoil? For the size would think auto loader would have more ammo and be not much larger.

i see a few things that coud be better only watch that video. when i hold it in my hand im not sure made in america allways good:-) thats what i mean with swissprofesionalmechanic.

You always talk about the "work" you do on your firearms and I was always curious on the whats and hows. Thanks for this two part series so at least now I have some idea of what might be involved.

It is called a file, some sandpaper, and a little determination. When you do things by hand they turn out better and you don't screw up by over doing it.

Nice job! ADC used to make a fine product;I have an M4 45/410 older style derringer.It was nicely finished but had a trigger pull from hell. Some stoning and polishing and it cleaned up well. You are correct the exterior of a weapon is an indicator of its interior;and a reflection on its owner.
