My favorite starter so far is Popplio, though I have done a few runs where I use an alternative pokemon as a starter. For my recent crystal version playthrough I used a delibird as my starter, and in black 2 I started myself off with a solosis. But my favorite one was Jasper, my magnemite.

I had done a nuzlocke in Sun version in the months leading up to Ultra Sun's release, and upon reaching the recycling plant, I was PRAYING that my encounter would be a magnemite, as magnezone is my absolute favorite. And I did get a magnemite as my encounter. A FREAKING SHINY MAGNEMITE. I decided since it was the one thing I really wanted and didn't want to waste a shiny magnemite on a nuzlocke, that I'd use it as my starter and get a second encounter. Which was a grimer that sat in the box for the rest of the run.

I had used PKSM to edit the magnemite to be level 5 with level 5 moves, and transferred it to my Ultra Sun save, permaboxing the rowlett I had chosen and using magnemite instead. It was AMAZING.

I was NOT expecting a “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas” reference

My heart grew a size big when i saw Yoshi dominate Mei's team. My all tiem favorite starter has always been Meganium, which makes me happy when Romhackers make what Nindendon't. Shoutouts to Inclement Emerald cuz it lets me sweep full teams with calm mind Triage Meganiun

My favorite starter Pokémon is Totodile (and it’s evolutions). I was doing a heartgold Nuzlocke a quite while back and chose a totodile as my starter, a reflection of my undying love for reptiles, and I named her Piper. I was attatched IMMEDIATELY. Unfortunately, it was the first Nuzlocke I ever lost (I usually don’t finish my nuzlockes at all, but I’ve never wiped). She was killed by Whitney’s militank. But I’ve loved totodile since, it’s one of my favorite Pokémon now. I want to reclaim that run soon, I want my girl back.
Totodile is adorable, croconaw is goofy looking in the best way possible, and feraligatr is BEAUTIFUL. They mean so much to me.
I’m tearing up thinking about it, actually!

Anyways if this nuzlocke’s feralgatr dies I’m gonna sob my eyes out!

I would love to see you Nuzlocke a ROM hack I've had a lot of fun with, Pokemon Crystal Clear. Basically you can do the gyms in any order, with some extra areas & trainers as well. It's a lot of fun.

A nuzlocke with pokemon with multiple typings but each secondary typing is the first typing of the next pokemon you get. No repeats in typings allowed
Eg:
pokemon 1: normal/flying
Pokemon 2: flying/fire
Pokemon 3: fire/ground
Etc

I had the idea of a retirement Locke where you can only use a Pokémon for 1 gym battle each before they get retired. Anything used in battle gets retired but other party members that don’t get used can stick around. Would make planning for fights crazy but you could be much more aggressive because deaths mean a lot less
