Oh my goodness. I remember this. I remember the lips thing, and the socialism thing.... I remember the roadie with the mic check and the scarves and the "sibilance"... but I'd forgotten that Tom Hanks was the roadie! Agreed that it's one of the best sketches ever. This was the year that I graduated high school. A moment in time for sure.

Stopped watching the show because I was older and had shit to do but mainly because of this insufferable played out not funny shit. SNL would beat a mildly amusing skit to death. I couldn't stand this Wayne's world shit.
I'll admit it, I broke the TV at the law school when this came on. I was at the nearby bar and went back to get something, can't remember what, but do remember passing by the student lounge when this was on. After watching assorted dick smokers in class go "schwing" my hatred of this unholy shit solidified.
I don't know who was watching the TV or why they were there on a Saturday, but I had to stop it. Unlike the movies, a tv tube was hard to break, so my foot did not go through it. Instead i just dumped that fucking tv and it died. Ironically, i also broke the piece of shit 1970s record player stereo but that was a bona fide a accident.
Wayne's shit. I know those guys made a lot of money off of it so ok, but so played out. Fuck

I have been watching SNL more or less continuously since Wayne's World and before - until this last season. The preachy self-righteous monologues, the color-by-numbers casting, it's just too much.
I know it won't revert to what it was (time doesn't go backwards) but I hope they find a new way to be funny again - I'll be checking it out now and then and hope it entices me to get back onboard.

That is absolutely awesome I love Wayne's world all their SNL and the movies and Aerosmith is absolutely the greatest one of the greatest 5 bands or my favorite from that era and oh my goodness Aerosmith is just phenomenal that was so cool to see
