I was wanting to start a doom metal band that does a mix of Epic Doom and Funeral Doom in terms of sound, but the lyrics would be focused on the darker side of videogames (Lavender Town Syndrome for example). Would that make it Nintendoom?

Uncle Acid & the deadbeats must be the best in the genre, its tame but genius, simplisticly (as intellegently) artistic, and has, to me, the most generally palletable appeal above the rest, half of everything is an earsore and the rest seems too similar, i like them over any other :>

Gotta love a nice thick fuzzy tone that can just drone for days! A tone and style that can be mixed with all kinds of stuff. I have so much damn high gain fuzz since getting into these genres. You will be surprised by the crazy and psychedelic sounds you can get from high gain fuzz, especially if you have some weird pedals.

It's funny how I like Khanate and Sunn 0))) and everytime I go online I get reminded everyone makes fun of them.

I wish some of these bands, that put out quite a few heavy songs that we can't get enough of, would simplify many of their songs and make them even better. Too many rhythm changes, different octaves and damn near irritating guitar leads-Satanic Rites of Drugula,(Electric Wizard) thrown into songs unnecessarily. There's something to be said about KISS, keep it simple stupid. Let the song pound away, don't try to get fancy. Forget what you might have heard a critic say or some so-called expert and feel obligated to throw a bunch of random leads or changes in their sound/songs. Take Black Sabbath's first masterpiece Black Sabbath Black Sabbath as a great example of not trying to shove unneeded, what I consider distractions, into their songs. I'm certain that people listening to this and like music could come up with at least one song where less would have been more. My example is the previously mentioned Electric Wizard's Satanic Rites of Drugula. Take out that irritating guitar lead that makes the song less enjoyable.

I’ve never heard a more accurate description given for Witchfinder General. Put simply, they exist. They’re still a good band tho.

As someone that is a speed metal and power metal fan this whole genre is sleepy time for me rofl. I need to practically start foaming at the mouth from how fast I'm headbanging to the beat lol.

Though I do find it funny that these genres spawned off of such a slow genre.
