I'm just wondering if Jonas earpiece said take more yas insurance. Even if so it does suggest a lack of confidence in Sepp on the part of the coaches.

Maybe cycling should trend toward shorter stages more often? Maybe extend GTs to 24-28 stages to compensate and keep the overall distance comparable, but maybe 2-3 hour stages are better in the long run?

There is no way to know what the riders are being asked to do. It’s possible this was the plan and it’s also possible that Jonas just wants to win.

Every "normal" fan wants the team to let Sepp Kuss win the Vuelta. But what do we know. Maybe Vingegaard and Roglic have clauses in their contracts that they have to be captains and are allowed to go for the leader's jerseys if they are able to. Kuss is clearly the number 3 in the team. This is the second time in the past few days were Vingegaard gets away and Kuss has to smile and congratulate him to the win, even though it must hurt him that the teams is allowing the riders to cannibalize each other. Vingegaard already won the Tour de France this year. Let your best helper win a grand tour as a thank you gift, dammit!! I am really starting to dislike Vingegaard.

I would not be surprised if TJV has already told Kuss that he will be giving up the jersey to one of the other two and if they do that to him he should leave and go to another team.

I'd hope Sepp doesn't help Jonas ever again in the Tour d'France

This is a lesson on why people should not rely on only one source of information to understand the reason why things happened as they did. For anyone who does not know by now, before the start of today's stage Team Jumbo Visma learned that their teammate Nathan Van Hooydonck had just been in a serious auto accident and was in the hospital in critical condition and in an induced coma. The team was racing not knowing their friend's fate. There is video of Jonas in radio contact with the team car just prior to his attack. What was said is up to the journalist to find out, but I don't believe it was a rogue attack, he was riding to honor a teammate who had just help him win the Tour.... just saying

I have to disagree with those who are dissing JV for racing. Look at the standings. He did nothing to jeopardize the red jersey for his team. Sepp could have responded and gone with him, or at least minimized the gap with a strong pursuit, but he didn't have the legs to do it. I would only have a problem with the situation if Jumbo wasn't letting Sepp race or they were making him pull for others, but I get the impression that the team is giving SK, JV, and PR permission to fly and settle the win between themselves. Does anyone really want someone to win only because a stronger rider let them (like the year Lemond was forced to hold back by his team)? I say let them race and may the strongest rider win. It would be a bit of a hollow victory if it was settled otherwise. That being said, I would love to see Sepp get the win on the strength of his performance.

I mean am watching the race and he keeps talking about is Remco Remco Remco. The guy is almost 30 minutes back.
He does not talk about Kuss Roglic and Jonás the leaders like he does about Remco. Also Ayuso Más those guys are in the top 10 to get he keeps on talking about Remco.

Jonas rode in honor of his teammate Nathan van Hooydonk who suffered a terrible crash earlier in the day. It's not about a rivalry with Kuss, it was more about getting the stage win for his friend who also helped him win the TDF.
