I stayed away from other composers or following their advice in regards to finding work (since everyone does the same) and went to video-production forums and kickstarter pages (and looked if a composer was listed or not), when I started. There are honestly a lot of people looking for composers, if your standards aren't too high when you begin working on movies.
I "sticked" to those I enjoyed working with most (and those who had potential to grow) and "grew" with them in the years after.
It's also really great to start "little". Not too much pressure, you learn how to improve your workflow, how to handle certain scenarios, etc, etc. I recommend this to every starting filmcomposer.

Hi Mark...what did you say to the company? Did you just introduce yourself as a composer and sent them a link to your reel? or was it more of an introductory and you asked them if you can send them a reel? Thanks.
