I want to hear the apology he supposedly gave her but it is only referred as having happened in the show. He really has no people skills outside of a boardroom for a lot of this show.

He is still in the deciding stage - groping for his final decision and feeling if his would be decision is the right one. How could there be love if there is no trust? How could there be love if there is no time? How could there be love if one of the pair (the boyfriend here) still has some unresolved issues that he can not let go of? How could there be love if there is so much ambivalence? (here, with the boyfriend) As they say, honesty is the best policy. Just be honest and let the other decide after knowing all the facts. Not like that, being ambushed in a situation that everyone knows except her.

Simple. He doesn't treasure or value her enough to be honest and forthcoming. He's loaded with weak and inexcusable excuses. If he did cherish her and their relationship, he wouldn't lie, break promises to her to spend time with her, cancel on her at the last minute, sneak around, make excuses, never find the 'right time' to share something with her. Now that he's been found to be so lacking in a spine, courage, moral character, integrity, credibility and honesty, why should she stay with him? Granted they work together, but he is easily avoided in, and excluded from, everything in her life and about her that is not work-related. He's a coward. It isn't about finding the right time, or telling her 'slowly' (what the heck does that even mean???). If he feels he had to find a right time or tell her slowly, he's not being honest with himself about his connection with the friend so he knows he can't be honest with his gf. Lying by omission is still lying. He almost married her 3 years ago but he's standing there telling his gf he only sees her as a sister: who marries their sister??????? I love the way she told him she doesn't 'need' his apology: she didn't say she didn't want it, but she didn't need it, meaning she needed his honesty, his openness, his integrity, his truth, his heart. She's right in telling him she tried to fit into his life in every way without creating dissention and chaos, and believing in him, but in the end, that's how he saw and treated her - as an outsider that he kept at a distance. She was right to refuse his touch, his lame apology that came only after she called him out on his despicable, deceitful behavior and to simply walk away which told him without drama or words that she doesn't 'need' anything from him at all.
