What about cost plus world market
ОтветитьThe closest Bed Bath & Beyond to me was in Santa Clara, CA at the corner of Stevens Creek Blvd. and Lawrence Expressway. I went there a few times, but I never got the appeal of the place. The last time I set foot in a BB&B was at Dadeland Mall in Miami when my brother was moving into his dorm for his first year at the University of Miami.
Fortunately, the Santa Clara BB&B is becoming something even better: a Micro Center.
i'd rather shop at IKEA, tyvm
ОтветитьI've been to a bet bath beyond!
ОтветитьSo they took off the board and owners were forced out and they ruined the company within 5 years
ОтветитьThe first time I walked into a bed bath and beyond my first thought was honestly.... how is this viable.
Why pay 30 dollars for a 5 dollar towel..
The place deserved to fail.
I heard recently that BB&B is coming back as an online store only... which is still a business killer as most will probably just want to order from Amazon. I used to love walking through BB&B because they always had cool/beautiful decor and the "As seen on tv" product section. 😂
ОтветитьIn my city at least there is another Store of its kind called ‘Jysk’ and not only it seems like more stores, but also there was only one Bed Bath and Beyond in my entire city. And even then it was so far to get to from where live that we consider inconvenient. While Jysk had a store or to that was close enough to us that if we feel like going there and checking what they have, we prefer to go there instead as it was that close.
ОтветитьOne theme throughout your videos is the companies were doing well until they overexpanded, corporate raiders, and massive debt. Let's see is there a lesson to be learned??
Ответитьbiggest reason i shop online is because stores don't carry inventory anymore
ОтветитьI remember reading another reason for BBB's demise is they stopped carrying the MyPillow brand out of pure hate for Mike Lindell sharing hard proofs that the 2020 election was stolen.
Funnily enough, MyPillow is the top maker for pillows, bathrobes, and whole of other delightful products. Why kick out quality because can't handle a conspiracy reality?
Diversity quota ads aren't going to help 🤦♂️
ОтветитьBed Bath and beyond and buy buy baby had insanely high prices
ОтветитьOnline shopping killed just about every retail product line except bulk items like furniture and appliances although that’s even questionable these days. I mean you could even order a car now.
ОтветитьHow is it a company can have $1-2 Billion in net profit and fail ?
ОтветитьThis unlocked a memory of Linen n' things I didn't know I had. That brand had completely disappeared from history for me.
ОтветитьIt’s Linens. With an S. Damn, the signage is right in the video multiple times. LinenS. LinenS
Ответитьbasically "activist investors" destroyed everything...again. whenever I hear "activist investors" that mostly means predatory bs DEI driven vc snakes who wouldnt be able to create a sandwich if their life depended on them
Ответитьi heard they closed every locations
Ответитьwe are the board of directors, we are smarter than anyone, we will fix this, how'd that work out for you, the story ends the same every time. "GREED IS GOOD" Gordon Gecko. The walk away with millions in accumulated pay and bonuses, oh wait a min they are smarter than anyone else.
ОтветитьI worked two years at BBB before leaving
Their inventory management was non existent in even in 2015. Things piled up in backstock and on the sales floor
I know for a fact each item in store had a 40% margin. The 20% coupons just brought items down to regular price
I thought bed bath n beyond was all about the candles
ОтветитьSo many comments about how bbb went down because they "went woke" or some bs like that. First, you don't know what that word means. Second, companies have always cut off people who were controversial to maintain sales. Most companies don't care about politics, they care about money. So stop bitching about someone getting "cancelled" for spreading conspiracy theories.
ОтветитьI worked at BBB a few months before it declared bankruptry. It was pretty sad in terms of customers. Every time someone had to check out, we'd have to push them to join our rewards program, often in pretty shitty ways. The checkout process became extremely annoying since there would often be times where we had to wait for the costumer to enter a phone # in before we could scan items. There was also the many troubles with coupons, which we could no longer just give to customers. Online coupons barely worked and were such a hassle, and many people got the college registery QR codes and letters confused with coupons.
Lots of time was spent checking stockrooms for products. Oh, and one time one of the private brands just got discontinued without any notice leading to a sudden 80% off sale. I spent a closing shift with my manager and just one other employee trying to fill over dozens of pick orders, made harder by the fact that a lot of products had only just 1 item of stock left and we had to search everything to find it.
I loved my experience working there even so, but it was definitely due to the managers who were extremely encouraging and kind to me.
Hey Jake i love your Bankrupt and Abandoned videos theyre really good
ОтветитьI'm waiting on the episode for creepy Kohl's, only thing keeping them floating is all the Sephora makeup crap. i said what i said.
ОтветитьI actually found some Bed, Bath and Beyond products in the dollar tree. I was shocked but bought them lol 😅
ОтветитьOne of the only stores I enjoyed going into.
ОтветитьI regret ever spending my hard earned money the last time I went to BBB, almost $300! I was a shopaholic at the time and learned a very hard lesson splurging senselessly over things I could have passed over or bought for cheaper prices☹😩 local store finally closed down few weeks after that terrible financial decision
ОтветитьSame thing I've pointed out multiple times, mainly online, but in general ignored. A HUGE but rarely talked about factor in this is TRANSPORTATION LOGIC. Nobody wants to sit in traffic, find parking in often unsecured lots, wait for the cashier to slowly figure out coupons, and go back to deal with traffic again to go elsewhere. ESPECIALLY if the experience is not ABSOLUTELY phenomenal, fun, and entertaining or at the very least well priced and convenient, which BB&B and others COULD have done ALL of, but failed MISERABLY at. Remember that. Now think about how much money in general is pumped into comfortably transporting humans vs comfortably transporting goods. TRILLIONS+ go towards the other. Goods are usually transported in every single way possible, 24/7 as fast as possible. Boats, planes, huge cargo trucks, drones, trains ALL are invested in HEAVILY. Compare that to investing in transporting the average human. So in the end, without these sort of stores, malls, etc doing the BARE minimum to AT LEAST be decently priced, be an OUTSTANDING, not good, but ABSOLUTE PHENOMINAL experience, and/or be really convenient, then NO, NOBODY wants to come. Simple logic. There's a good reason Five Below came onto the scene now doing quite well, even for whats left of the middle and even upper middle class, while these dumbfucks that tried to squeeze and abuse them are shutting down. Not to mention the majority that barely scrape the middle class or fall well below. It's not hard to figure out. The average customer wasn't invested in or respected, so therefore, they find an alternative. That's it.
ОтветитьI used to work at Buy Buy Baby back in 2017 which is another retail store connected to Bed Bath and Beyond. I don’t know if this was another factor contributed to them being bankrupt, but we were told to accept expired coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond which always confused me. How would you make a profit if everything is always discounted?
ОтветитьFormer Christmas Tree Shops employee here (owned by BBB). The management of the stores was a joke and they had no idea what they were doing. They allowed a customer to repeatedly sexually harass female employees, said it was okay for customers to physically assult you if you made them mad and made decisions based on one event. Customer complains to corporate they were not allowed to use expired coupon, next day they said if anyone even says the word cupon, give them one. Next week's meeting "corporate says we are scanning more coupons than were sent out." One customer says names are too small on the name tags, everyone has to get new name tags. One Customer misunderstood how a line works and threatens to never shop there again, give them a gift card! I do not miss it one bit
ОтветитьI liked looking around there, but I really only bought stuff if I had coupons, a gift card, or something was on clearance. When I got married, I did part of our wedding registry there so we received a lot of nice stuff that we didn't have to buy ourselves. Ended up returning some things for store credit that was eventually used up. My husband worked there for a while in college 7 years ago and still folds our towels and sheets like they taught him to.
ОтветитьBro you're a poor man's company man channel.
ОтветитьI think publix will eventually have this moment
ОтветитьOne of the Bath, Bed, & Beyond where I live turned into one of two HomeBuys stores where they sell things from other stores at a cheaper price. And the second one is in an old grocery store that the owners sold 6-8ish years ago. You can tell it’s the old BB&B store and the grocery store.
ОтветитьIf it wasn't for the movie Click I wouldn't even know of this company
ОтветитьWhere I live, there was a BB&B across the street from a L&T. the L&T closed first and it's footprint is now taken up by a large Cost+ World Market and Total Wine...the BB&B closed a few months ago...and honestly if I ever went there it was to see an item in person...then buy it online...we also had a stack of 20% coupons at home
ОтветитьMine just closed a few months ago lol
ОтветитьIf they still had non-overseas products for tolerable prices, in a more organized setup, I’d absolutely shop there. Tired of crap online.
ОтветитьAt the end of my employment there I used to straight up tell people to go to the target across the street
ОтветитьOnly walmart will be around forever.
ОтветитьI haven't heard of Linen-N-Things in such a long time, I thought it was a myth.
ОтветитьIm surprised that the Christmas Tree Shop another BBB oened shop wasnt mentioned
ОтветитьThat beyond section always scared me.
ОтветитьLow interest rates is the drug that has, and will continue to kill many businesses. As interest rates rise positive cash flow will become more and more important. A business should be cash flow positive in order to stay in business, debt is generally a bad idea unless you’re taking it on to increase capacity or efficiency (stock buybacks do neither)
ОтветитьStock “buybacks” is nothing but stock manipulation. Using debt to compensate management
ОтветитьBed Bath & Beyond has filed for bankruptcy due to a variety of reasons, such as heightened competition from online retailers and discount stores, a decline in sales, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company's strategy for recovery involves a restructuring plan that concentrates on its most profitable stores to enhance its financial standing. As for your financial objectives, it is admirable to aim for a portfolio worth no less than $850,000 before you reach the age of 65. If you're interested in potential investments, seeking guidance from a financial advisor could be beneficial.
ОтветитьEvery time i hear bed, bath and beyond…I think Bed, bath and bodyworks…..and beyond.
