I wonder if a lot of why Americans like it in particular because it's the first kitchen scale they own and it comes with recipes that actually include the weight.

The measuring thing DEFINITELY needs to be explained. They just poured stuff in there totally without measuring in that first recipe. Also, how do you clean it? And on top of that… they DON’T recommend buying it 😂😂😂

Okay, they say in the end that you can do the same thing with other kitchen stuff, okay but it is about time saving by automatic weighing, not needing 5 pots that you have to wash after, doing multiple recipes at the same time is another time-saving, and by having an alarm when each step is done allows you to do something else in between, wich is another time saver. Is worth it if you have the money.

i would say spend the money on a Breville inductionfreak plate and you will get more use out of it while retaining the best feature which is exact temp control.

It's always been pricey for whatever time since it's existed, but worth every penny. I hope it's as indestructible as it used to be. If it is? It lasts decades of usage. As soon as go to electronics? I don't know about that anymore.

For me it works for every penny because I have never cooked more than some eggs and with this I have made bread, cocktails, risotto, Lasagna (all ingredients) so easily and good that I would pay again for it.

Watch America's Kitchen Test video on this topic. Thermomix did not win the comparison.

The TOKIT is much better and less expensive and does not have that ludicrous $70/yr fee if you want to be able to use the menu system!!! It is surprisingly also more temperature accurate.
I'm not sure why he said "no other machine does that" when talking about stable heat, for example making a hollandaise sauce. The TOKIT does and it makes a beautiful hollandaise sauce!
The TOKIT also does the steaming and everything else the Thermomix does.

I'm about to buy one (small black friday sale; get a second blender cup, and limited edition black, for normal price.). My friend has one and loves it; I figure the amortized cost over the mixer, etc. I would otherwise buy is covered if I use it 100-200 times, which I almost certainly will.

I am using only one pan, one pot and normal oven and I can still make amazing dishes. I dont need even food processor or extra tools.
Good dish is just about a little bit experience, good ingredients and also good recipe. This is all what you need.

Is ot worth it? My guess is, if you dont have anything else, probably? I mean, I have all these ... the slow cooker, mixer, blender, name it. For me, it would be a luxury and a space saver mostly.

But looking back when I was 20 before I bought all the gadgets separately, the cost is probably similar in the end.

But at some point ... these kinds of thing are nice but scare me a little. At some point we are sacrificing skill and knowledge for convenience.

Well to make an update... One thing I heard the new TM6 does ... you can essentially have the whole menu in their brain for the week for example or whole month ... and it spits out, for all the 31 dinners you have planned for the month, it aggregates all your ingredients needed and it just sends you an email of what you need to buy. This alone I can see being such a time saver!! Can you imagine going through all the recipes inventoring all the ingredients and then adding all the measurements so you know how much to buy? I can see this feature alone (let alone all the others) for someone with a family in charge of the shopping being such a big plus!!!! Im single and still see this feature as major!!

I'd like to buy one just to have, but never use it because I never follow recipe directions. I kind of create them as I go sometimes nd never write them down because it was hungry food seasoned to taste at the time. :D I couldn't take a machine that demands I follow a plan.

This looks like an absolute nightmare. I'm usually very imprecise and reactive with my cooking and knowing how to adjust a recipe depending on what's happening in the pan or with a dough is really simple skill you pick up when cooking regularly. Following steps with exact precision and measuring exact amounts and if I mess up one step, the whole program is done sounds like a horror to me.
