This video got rid of my paranoia for reinstalling windows countless of times. over and over again. because i'd feel like if i did one wrong move everything would be broken like this isnt working as was intended before. or this and that this video really let rid of my paranoia.

I do a clean install every 2-3 years. I've built PCs personally and at scale professionally for close to 25 years, and worked in enterprise IT / IS for over a decade. Upgrading the OS when a major new version comes out is almost always a recipe for "micro problems", whether it's something not loading quite as fast as it should, strange behavior in file explorer or with updates, etc. There are literally thousands, 10s of thousands of dependencies within the Windows operating system, any of which that go wrong can cause an issue. By issue, I don't mean your operating system BSODs or won't boot, but it could be a tiny thing. Explorer acting weird, a program taking too long to load, something erroring on an install. The problems are on a wide spectrum and will continue to crop up the longer you run your PC and the more frequently you install loads of 3rd party programs or upgrade to major new versions.

Some will claim, "I've been upgrading my Windows installs for over 10 years, don't have any problems!" but the reality is they're so detached from how a fresh install of Windows feels and performs, that they're simply blind to the performance depreciation and "microproblems" that they live with on a daily basis. If someone runs a single version of Windows, never installs programs, and never upgrades, they could probably run that same install for a decade, but for the rest of us, especially power users, a reformat every couple of years is simply good practice. Not only that, but it gives you a solid real world opportunity to run through your backup procedures and to validate that your existing backup is indeed thorough and functional. With good backup hygiene, and once you've gone through the process a few times, it's a relatively painless process that (can) yield fantastic results.

1. When u have install new version e.g windows 11 from windows 10
2. If system has lot of error u cannot resolve
3. When infected with multiple malware
4. When u install to many customization and scripts for improving privacy and it breaks your os system or decreases it's performance
5. Don't rush to install update and wait 2 3 weeks but don't left too much far behind
6. Didn't understand it.

I decided to format my pc today not because I have any issues with it. But I haven't done a clean install for years. And I am just wondering weither it is gonna have any effect on performance if I do clean install.

I do get a lot of blue screens but these are USB related.

I totally agree with you Brian. Windows can work find For Months but problems can occur most of the time for me it’s BITS aka background intelligence transfer service updates can’t get through. If you can’t fix it you just do a clean install. Sometimes if I get malware in the past I would prefer to use Diskpart Clean All that get rid of the malicious software.

Hi Britec I watch most of your videos I've a question for you if you don't mined.
I've knot used my laptop for at least a year and want to get back to using it. It's in very good condition and has Windows 10 home installed.
I was before I go ahead and restart using it what do you think or recommend I'm going to have to do too it to get it up and running smoothly.There was never anything wrong with it i just probably got lazy and used my phone & tablet instead.

I drastically decreased my latency by running the AME scripts on a windows ISO. So I've not checked as I don't play games anymore ,but would stand to reason that low latency could up the frame rate.

Linux / MacOs /ChromeOs do exist to not only Windows

On average for me about every 3 months. Takes about 30 mins to get it all set-up again (including installing the OS). Most of it is automated. OS just feels faster / snappy.

That being said my mothers PC / install has dated back to XP with various upgrades over the years. It's so incredibly bloated and has stuff dating back to 2005. How it still works is beyond me but hey, shows that Windows can still hold up.

Becareful with mods guys, i got a virus after downloading a mod check them twice before extracting

Upgrading a Motherboard is another one...I (believe?) it's pretty impossible to avoid a fresh install

If trying to protect your system from getting spied upon and then it breaks the OS... then Windows certainly IS a pile of junk!

My deleted files still show up in Explorer until I refresh the folder.

Backing up a heap of data, fresh installing windows, downloading the updates, and then reinstalling bunches of programs ain't no light frock in the garden. THAT'S why we don't want to reinstall Windows. Where is your head, Brian?

You can try it to a another drive to see if you still get the issue, and you wont loose your softwares and games.
They can take you days to download and set up again.

So my advice is have extra drive at hand all times that is compatible.

I dont mind if i lose all data, but if i get a blue/black screen error if i use installation media can i just reinstall windows and that will fix my problem?

Well, I was lucky enough to update from 7 to 8.1, to 10 and then 11 with 2 different systems 🤣, I did just reinstall windows 11 as I couldn't go back to beta from dev, not much difference in my opinion! I was probably very lucky though to be honest

I back up my data regularly (music, pictures, etc, and the C boot drive) but I always do Windows upgrades and actually have done since building my i7-4770K PC in June 2013 and installing Windows 8.1 on it for the first time on the 128 GB Crucial SSD I had at the time (now a 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO which I used Acronis True Image to restore a backup onto).

I'm currently running Windows 10 Pro 21H2 on the same system and have had no issues at all doing this as I run a very clean system. Sure, if I look at the Windows log then there are things highlighed as errors (some of these are long-standing Windows bugs however) but in day to day use they do not affect the usability or performance of my PC which is used primarly for gaming. The only things I install on a regular basis are new games and updates to frequently used software since as browsers, email and so on. I'm not one to blindly go installing stuff and I'm always careful to ensure bloatware isn't installed.

And, if you have a NVMe drive, never use windows optimize on it

I have a laptop as a backup to my desktop, or to use on the road, that has been acting weird for a while now. So I did a 'Reset" or re install and Bingo! All the issue went away. In my opinion it was how the Windows update screwed this laptop up or possibly file corruption with a bad internet connection.

I installed 2021-11 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 20H2 and I have had to re-install windows.

I totally fucked my pc up...

Guess I was lucky. Installed Win 11 when notified by Microsoft, somewhat lengthy process but problem free. My three year old Dell is running better than ever before with no problems at all.

Microsoft should sell a paid bootable USB drive that repairs your Windows version that needs to be licensed and can't be copied

simple install bioshock screw up the sound by changing a audio setting in the game and the only fix is reinstall windows...i still don't know how to fix that other then reinstall windows and i tried ini tweaks literally everything to get the sound back but its a no go i don't know what file it changes in windows so i cant fix it so rip when bioshock sound dies

I do a clean install of my windows whenever i feel unsatisfied with its current state. Dont really care much about the apps installed and the games and other stuff are on separate drives.

Clean install is always the best. I install Windows on a yearly basis, whether I need to or not. A practice that goes all the way back to Windows 2. Geez, I am dating myself with that info.
