I was only 7 when this was released but often heard in our household from older siblings. Word of mouth mostly got the Doors word out, was a great time to be non-commercialized and still get recognition without radio influence.

SPECIAL TIMES,RODE SUBWAY LATE TO BAYSIDE, QUEENS, TO MY CAR, NO ONE BOTHERED A LONG HAIRED SEMI-HIPPIE. CRIED JULY 4TH, 1971, AT "LADY DIANE'S PLACE UPON HEARING THE TRAGIC NEWS. What a Mystique of a Magnificent work.

Morrison was BORN to be a Rock Icon..total natural...The coolest Voice in R & R..his voice and quick yells are total badass shit. Jim and the Doors were my first (Favorite band). They helped me live through my Father's death at age 13. Jim kept me alive from 1981-1985. No one cooler. Matt NYC

Fitting cover since some of their music reminds one of a carnival atmosphere...Except the clowns are all serial killers.

This has to be one of the best album covers of all time. Top 3 at least. Kind of ahead of its time? When I was 12, I listened to this album on repeat. Wish i got to experience the doors during their time. As someone who suffers with depression, i feel Jim was very depressed when he made this album. I think thats why i connect with it.
