In Colorado Springs they need a new family doctor. Doctor Michaela (Mike) Quinn writes on the ad and is hired. She travels in good spirits to the town. It's 1860. The populace is shocked when 'Mike' Quinn turns out to be a woman! At first, the new doctor has great difficulty breaking through the contempt and prejudice of her patients. Michaela Quinn, played by Jane Seymour, is a resolute type. She adopts three orphaned children and befriends Byron Sully. He hangs out with Cheyenne Indians a lot and has a wolf as a pet. It takes a lot of struggle and annoyance, but in the long run the new doctor manages to win over the inhabitants of the town.
