What’s important is not to pretend any black inventor in history could possibly be as significant as Einstein or Edison was, it’s to acknowledge that historical oppression prevented black people from having the opportunity to BE as successful as Einstein or Newton, or Edison. Pretending they were “just as good” is doing a disservice to every single one of us, and erasing the genuine hardship black people had to endure for ages
