Carly's landings were a bit deep considering how light she looks in the air

I always liked how light Patterson landed and how confident Catalina was. It's a shame Ponor wasn't able to put it all together for her comeback because she was quite special. Also, Carly always landed that Arabian low, albeit it's difficulty.

You can't buy or score grace. Catalina has it.

What would be the skill value for Eremia's balance skill at the beginning of her exercise?

I love how everybody says Catalina's grace won that final..what shall we call that dismount? Or did no one notice?

Interesting that both Patterson and Eremia have higher d scores than Ponor. Eremia is actually the cleanest of the 3 in terms of execution considering Carly's low landings on her arabian and front tuck and Ponor's awful tuck/pike form and very low landing on her dismount. I like the selection of skills in Ponor and Patterson's routines better though.

Wasn't the connection for Catalina Ponor a Front Aerial - Back Handspring - Back Layout instead of Back Pike? Just wondering... :)

You guys can't compete on which is better/should've won by using the 2017-2020 COP. The three of them cab easily adjust with the system, so maybe, if that'll be the case (or system) back then, we would still have the same result.

That's sad, it shows the sport is going the wrong way. Catalina's is a lot more pleasing than the other two.

Patterson's choreography and composition was more interesting when she was a junior, in my opinion. But is routine obviously had what it takes to do well!

the queens in this apparatus for a long time were the Romanians, and it is clearly possible to appreciate an imposing Catalina Ponor and Alexandra Georgiana Eremia both with great technique, grace and with art, Patterson good to dry very concerned by the technique and zero grace, even it can be noticed in the output the two Romanians perfect and American not, the final result could even have been Alexandra Eremia was Gold, Silver Cata and Patterson Bronze.-

Omg Patterson lands her Acros so softly like a feather. It's a joy to watch her wow Catalina is owning the beam with her confident swift movements. Eremia is also very impressive.

Did back hs so and back hS on one arm used to be rated differently? Because I don’t see the point of doing them and you don’t see them often anymore

Same differnce between gold and silver ( 0.012) that Shannon Miller and Gutsu had in the AA.
Edit: I think Ponor was the only Romanian gymnast to throw a double somersault with a full twist .

Jeez. How did these judges even differentiate among the three? No real deductions besides the dismounts. And yes Carly was a bit deep on some of the landings

Patterson would not receive 0.1 CV for the switch leap to back tuck. In the 17-20 COP C+C receives CV only if they’re both dance.

It is unfair to judge routines 15 years ago with current code.

Dscore is adjustable, but execution wise, Ponor killed it.
You can't teach what she does with her artistry and body

Carly’s landings are beautiful apart of the arabian. However, Ponor was very special! Ponor has the point.
Eremia was good for the team! But I would rather give the bronze medal to the beautiful Pavlova even with the mistake.

I love watching Ponor and Eremia on the beam - Ponor rarely seems to make any mistakes ( just the occasional slight balance check here and there). Eremia is also great! I don't know about anyone else, but I think Paterson is slightly overrated!! Ok, impressive dismount in this video, but it feels to me like she has very little in her actual routine. She seems to mount it, do almost nothing apart from a lot of arm movements, and then dismount - and then score very highly?! And I have also seen her land that double arabian quite badly - not least in the team competition at the 2004 Olympics where she landed it really deeply and took an enormous step forward, and still scored 9.612? Nearly two points above Terin Humphrey, who I thought performed a better routine with better landings (although I know start value is relevant!) Patterson performed well here - just a pity she couldn't do the same when she performed for the team final at the olympics!!

I like Ponor's execution the best and yet she got the lowest score.

Carly Patterson is great Gymnast but she lacks that elegance and classy technique that the Romanians have.

I dont know about difficulty,. but i do know Catalina was my favorite to watch. She owned that beam!

Ponor looked to me like she was on a whole other level compared to the other two. Her routine looked like it had more difficulty and she just flowed through the routine.
