These are lies. The tea party was created in 2007 by Ron Paul supporters and 911 truthers. The media hijacked it to change the issues the tea party was bringing up.

It would be an interesting alternate history if Trump had never run in 2016 and these guys remained in this format and won, probably under Ted Cruz. The present wouldn't look entirely different, with ethno-Christian bigots running the show on the right and idiocy running the GOP, but it may be more Constitutional and less Trump-y. Terrifyingly, more intellectual as well since the leaders, like Ted Cruz, would be very smart and skilled at deception.

Truth is, these people would cut off their noses to spite their face if it means people that they don't like... getting health insurance. Nothing wrong with being Republican, but what is with the total disconnect with reality within their constituents?
