I've literally been playing Balatro while watching this after work.

I would have added to the part about Spin to say, one thing that makes it better is sometimes the biggest assholes are the ones who give almost no indication of their buffoonery. Of course, I still agree it would likely have made for better cinema to have at least one pre-indicator of Max's true nature, but that's not how it often works out irl. Regardless, 10/10 video as usual, love the still images of Large Joelathan in your true element

I have a lot of beefs with Rise of Red, but I feel like many of yours are set up to be addressed in the obvious sequel hook at the end. never seeing the dance, not knowing what the prank is, etc, all feel like things set up to be covered in the sequel

I'm curious if you caught Uma's sequel hook at the end of Descendants Rise of Red, it makes it clear that the plot will be truly resolved in the next movie. I do think it's kind of lame to make half of a plot as a movie, but it answers most of your problems with it.

Honestly really changed my opinion on the first two zombies' movies. I always hated them because I thought the message of racism fell flat because the racism was genuinely somewhat justified, but it isn't so much about segregation then it is about the utilization of an othered race. And so, what if the racism analogy is so muddied? What matters is that the message is that racism is wrong, that you can't pick and choose aspects of a complete other race to endorse and just throw the rest out. That system is wrong and is broken and needs to be reformed, and I just never saw that from those films.

See this is fun. I avoided watching for a while bc I thought it would be one of those lazy plot summary with basic reaction content videos, but I forgot just how buck wild Big Joel's takes can be -- never what I expect XD
