I don’t smoke because it’s cool. I smoke because it’s highly addictive. Smoking kills. Killed my mum in April, and it will probably kill me as well. It’s a choice and life is a game of choices. We all have to die from some thing. Be it fast food. Over indulgence in the drink. Every day is one day closer to death. It’s what we do in those days in between that matter. Make the best of those days.

Tobacco isn't necessarily the danger... it's the synthetic additives... addiction of any kind is unhealthy (and most people realize the gamble they are taking)... it's a personal choice for people to use or not use any substance and the US constitution was created to allow for personal freedoms and choice (let's not forget the phrase "caveat emptor")

IMO this is bias propaganda! It has been discovered that lead, and monoxide poisoning from vehicles over the years 1960-1990’s are the actual causes for the massive increase in lung cancer and COPD. Demonizing Nicotiana will only drive up the price creating a new illicit market for money washing. I was a heavy smoker for like 17 years, yesterday marked one year since I quit, wisest decision.

My grandmother smoked Kent cigarettes until her 94th birthday she was a healthy grandmother. No negative effects from smoking effected my grandmother who lived in Finland all her long life. My personal view is cigarette smoking does not effect everyone equally just as alcohol furthermore these negative comments towards smokers are baseless and unfounded. The strong evidence that i have is cigarettes would be outlawed banned completely if they were detrimental to people obviously they are not because they are available everywhere and accessible. In conclusion the haters have lost the argument grow up you immature irrational people.

I quit, by allowing myself any other treat, or diversion, other than Tobacco, for that crucial 72 hour hurdle.. Allowing myself any drink, or any food. People say I 'replaced one vice for another', but it at least wasn't damaging my lungs anymore, and all other addictions are easier to limit, or eventually quit.

Vaping is also as bad as cigarettes. Many countries are banning it like Australia.

I quit cold turkey as doctor said i had mass in my lungs. Only smoked for 12 years but quit because of the results. Fortunately they said it wasn’t cancer, still stopped smoking though and I’m grateful!

My mother still smokes and hearing her hack her lungs out every morning with that first smoke made me never want to. It may sound bad but she doesn't look well anymore either. I would rather exercise and eat healthy than be on drugs.

Isn’t it funny that they talk about drugs as the “scourge of society” and want to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to fight the epidemic of drugs and yet they’re happy to allow alcohol and tobacco to be freely purchased at any gas station on any corner? Why are those drugs acceptable and others not? The idea that our safety or health as a society is a factor in any decision that’s made by the government is absurd and laughable.

Look at Australian Cigarettes, they're currently is a $26 tax per 20 cigs(pack), and the tax is 80% of the cost, so is $32.50 a pack of 20 and they have incredibly graphic images on they. Plus, are raising the tax 15% over the next 3 year period. Just trying to make smoking unaffordable for the average Australian.
