Me too..... Hypoglycemia for decades because of high intensity sports (8-14 fitness classes a werek/ cycled everywhere and body building) & a vegan diet. It took 40years but it came to hit me at 47 badly when the menopause started. Mass Inflammation, migraines, allergies and constant diarrhea, psoriasis, arritmia or heart palpitations and many more symptoms....... It all disappeared when I stopped being vegan and reintroduced meat fish and eggs and removed most carbs save for some veggies and a high protein bread and some cakes that I make myself with natural fats proteins and healthier natural carbs.
I found this all out thanks to EXOERTS LIKE DR LUSTIG...... PLEASE KEEP SHOUTING OUT AGAINST SUGAR AND highly processed CARBS and I'll keep spreading your message of health while I focus my clients on fitness.
Wishing everyone who is watching this video to always have strength of heart and peace in soul:
Amid life's tumultuous sea, a toolkit for the soul we seek,
To mend the heart, find peace, and joy in times so bleak.
In this video's embrace, a treasure trove, a hopeful start,
Bolstering the mind, kindling hope, soothing every wounded heart 💗
Thank you for this. It was sooo informative. But I wish you would have a separate "man wants to build massive muscles or run a marathon" episode. Most people and especially women can't relate to this massive muscle man issue. Doesn't apply.
ОтветитьFats cause insulin resistance and is a feature not a flaw or a concern. Just stay away from carbs and you will have disease or diabetes or any cardiovascular damage
ОтветитьEnjoyed this excellent and informative conversation around the nebulous term "insulin resistance". To learn that it can originate in different tissues and environments, that the types have specificity and are linked with different health problems I found very helpful. As someone who practiced time restricted feeding and was careful around carbs for 5 years before finding out I was on the first rung of pre-diabetes in spite of looking and feeling healthy this is a mystifying issue for me. As someone who took the information serously, immediately went from carb cautious to keto, bought a CGM and found 6 months later that my A1C was one degree WORSE this information helps me with the feelings of disempowerment and apathy in the face of this health challenge. As someone exasperated by being unable to get insulin tested it is encouraging to know that there are people more interested in these issues than my GP
ОтветитьIs intermittent fasting good for Type 2 diabetes?
ОтветитьI really appreciate such a high-level discussion between two of the leading thinkers on metabolic heath and nutrition. I second Dr. D'Agostino's suggestion to get Dr. Lustig's book Metabolical. It is the consolidation of his life' s work. If some of this went over your head that book is the perfect introduction without dumbing down concepts for us lay readers.
ОтветитьFasting Insulin ...who does that test? Fasting Glucose , yes - is that what he is talking about ? You would have to eat some kind of fibre on carnivore diet like psyllium husk wouldn't you otherwise you would be constipated ?
ОтветитьGood show but just to help you when interviewing try to line u your train of thought meaning make your statements then ask the question. Do not ask the question then make a stem entry. Thanks
ОтветитьTHANKS 😊😊
ОтветитьI worked for a health insurance company in 1987 and as part of my job, I read a lot of Underwriting journals. I remember reading an article that said the rate of T2D was rising so fast, the researchers expected half of all Americans to have it by 2025. 1987 was 5 years or so after the food industry started pushing the lowfat narrative. People were developing T2D just 5 years after adopting high carb/low fat diets. And look where we are now - where the researcher predicted we'd be.
Even as a very young underwriter, I told my coworkers that T2D would bankrupt our country.
Certainly one of the best videos of medicine ever done by this brilliant endocrinologist.
ОтветитьDr Lustig, we need a grass roots movement. We need to make you the next Surgeon General. By chance have you ever reached out to Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy, MD?
ОтветитьMy insulin was at a 8 last year, I reversed it to 3 in a year just by lifestyle changes. Thanks for all you do.
ОтветитьEvery Dr. And expert has their own opinion about how to treat diabetes
ОтветитьAn insightful & interesting video, Dr Robert Lustig ; extremely well explained, cogent, I leant a lot. "To ask the right question is already half of the solution of the problem", thank you Dr Dom D'Agostino. I not only obtained a better understanding of Insulin Resistance & all its ramifications but also came away with an understanding of "leaky gut", fascinating.
ОтветитьCan taking too much Tylenol lead to fatty liver
ОтветитьThat you Dr. Lustig for continuing to reiterate that fat alone is not the problem. That you can be both fat and metabolically healthy and you can be thin and metabolically sick. It is 100% about insulin resistance NOT necessarily fat. People who want to beat up on fat people ignore this message.
