Hey Brandon. My only hesitation is about the photos app and other personal Apple apps. If I'm logged in the Apple TV with my personal Apple ID ... will everyone in my household be able to access my personal data that's synced with my iCloud?

Nice review, very comprehensive and informative. Just a little odd reasoning that buying the new over the 2021 TV would have an advantage because it is fanless and has half the weight. That would be an advantage when carrying it often or travelling with it as I do, but even then.
Most of these devices are barely ever repositioned over years perhaps. 😉

I love everything Google, and Pixel, but the Apple TV is hands down the best media streamer. One of the most infuriating things about Siri however, is it can't recognize foreign words. If I speak a Middle Eastern or Asian name, the search results are a hot mess. This specific function, which I use A LOT, is where Siri fails and this limiting the functionality of this device.

What is the make and model of your Smart Tv?

Apple TV cancelled my ID without explanation Aug 2023. Here is what they said, ' We’ve determined that your request does not meet the conditions to reactivate your Apple ID.' Interesting since they have my money and I gave them the details of the receipt. So they left me hanging. No offer to return the money I paid.

Sorry to disagree, but we have had one for nearly a year and hardly even use it, yes it was expensive for us here, and we haven’t been blown away with it at all. Missus can’t be bothered even turning it on. A rigmarole to switch from current tv channel setting to AV input via the TVs remote, to appletv input, then use apple TVs remote input, just to see a movie, then go to settings, find and change sound settings, go back to main screen, select movie and play., when done go back to settings, tv sound setting, change back to TVs sound, ditch appletv remote, change back to tv input with TVs remote. Whew. All that for one movie. We have a smart tv in the bedroom which pretty much does everything it does easier really anyway for no extra cost and no extra cables and all with one remote. Also disappointed with the home pod mini for sound for it, it frankly sucks, again just sits there doing nothing everyday, except to randomly ask “what did we say”? Aargh. There’s no way to turn it off, or set sound from it along with the tv speakers or HomePod and stereo together. It’s it, only, or not, so no way to have both going like a theatre surround sound. Apple tech support (which is not supported in New Zealand) so we were transferred two thousand miles away to a guy in different time zone, in another country (Australia) and the idiot there said you could use the HomePod as surround sound, Duoh. Argued with him yet he still didn’t understand what surround sound to multiple speakers meant. So much for support!. Bummer. And to top it all off Siri voice does not recognize our English kiwi accents here in New Zealand so yeah pretty much a waste of time asking it anything. That’s our experience to date with it. A 2 out of 10.

Apple should consider capability and storage for downloads on AppleTV. Sometimes poor network takes away the beauty of direct streaming.

Only issue I am having is my Apple TV 4K remote isn’t connecting to my sky glass when it comes to the up down and mute volume buttons and it’s driving me insane. Any help?

Now it’s good but it ain’t that good! Honestly main thing might be the control method alone that really sets it apart.

Would you still need your main TV remote to switch inputs (such as if you play game consoles), and to adjust settings (such as picture/audio)?

My first gen Apple 4K is still going strong. But my new tv will be here Monday. So I will probably upgrade to the 4th gen.

Just got the 3rd gen Apple TV 4K, 4K hdr worked great, I connected some earphones to test out and messed up something. I no longer get audio on hdr 4K or 1080 only getting audio on 4K SDR and if I do manage to get audio on hdr it sounds staticky. Any tips ?

It changed my life too, until I upgraded to an LG OLED C2 television and discovered ATV is incompatible with it.

You use apple arcade more then your ps5? I think we can all collectively say apple arcade is not great. It has a select few decent indie titles. But in general it is glorified shovelware.

Since you have the HomePods, you can also do Hey Siri for playing, pausing, rewinding etc.. when watching something without having to use the remote. When you say it with Hey Siri, it will know automatically that you meant to do it on the TV
