Getting a 2 years old video suddenly recommended to me is weird. What's even weirder is to see Techquickie that didn't answer the question of "why type B connector exists" while talking about literally any other USB standard.
ОтветитьTV/Monitor
Aspect Ratio = 3:2
Input: 2 USB C (Multi Function)
Output: One 2.5mm AUX Jack
What about USB Micro-A and Mini-A?
ОтветитьVery cluttered video.
ОтветитьThis was a great summary - thank you! Liked and subscribed.
ОтветитьPrinters and Monitors💯
ОтветитьSo is not a good idea use "adapters"
ОтветитьExcept even with USB-C some are data and power and others are one or the other. Then voltage or speed become a factor too. So no.. stil not only 1 cable.
ОтветитьType A or "Taipei"? 😂
ОтветитьWireless printers are the worst!
ОтветитьOdd, every printer that has had a type B connector that I have purchased has had the cable included.
ОтветитьMy fantasy of Type A to Type A will never come true :( it's gone in flames after learning the info from this video lol
ОтветитьI saw this video the other day and bought one after work, because our company was hacked and I was unable to connect to our printer wirelessly from my iPad or Galaxy. I should be able to put my USB-C converter to the other end of the cable and print directly from at least my phone if it ever happens again. Or if I can't, at least my workstation directly. 😅
ОтветитьYou could have the most functional system ever, but then there's the printer... it's always a fkn printer!
ОтветитьOn thing I like about USB-C connectors is they are reversible! What other connectors are like that?
Ответитьwhy does a printer needs power over usb? it plugs in the wall
ОтветитьAh, USB type A. The standard connector where you have a 50/50 shot, and it still somehow takes three tries to get it in.
Ответить"You probably don't have one lying around"
Ask anyone that does anything with music. We've got tonnes of them!
Never seen a perfectly working printer in my life. Paper will become obsolete before printers start working properly.
ОтветитьI like USB type B connectors. They are the most durable and also the most satisfying to connect 😀
ОтветитьIf only they could use the same plug but not connect the power supply pins at theprinter🤔
ОтветитьI'm a tad offended that my all time favorite cable was skipped over.
The USB mini type B, I swear by that connector, usually more robust than the device itself. I wish we could go back to it, type c is the bane of my existence
To me, the video doesn't actually answer the question why these chunky connectors do exist/are the way they are, tbh.
ОтветитьThe usb 3.0 connectors are all weird because the ports are all backwards compatible with usb 2.0 cables.
Ответитьprinters are the bane of my existance and i work for Xerox lol
ОтветитьI use this for monitors that have a usb “B” Input so you can connect devices directly to the monitor via usb “A” rather than to the pc itself.
ОтветитьWait. but i have a external hard drive that has a MALE to MALE USB-A cable
ОтветитьGreat video dude! Tjabks
ОтветитьPrinters were intentionally bad to connect so that once you got one to work you would inherently not want to switch and "go through that again." Ink is another lock-in mechanism. I haven't bought or even owned a printer for almost 20 years.
Ответить"The days of juggling connectors should be over." It's so cute when kids haven't experienced something like connectors and are so very very naive about them.
ОтветитьMany of today's printers are networkable! Wireless networking even...
ОтветитьI never understood why printers ALWAYS had to have a special connector. Even back in the day, before USB, there was the DB-25 Centronics connector that was specific to printers.
ОтветитьI have also seen external hard drives with this connector.
ОтветитьUSB type B are use basically with any and all recording equipment. You make it seem like it’s this thing that is so hard to find and rarely ever used. It’s used in multiple applications everywhere still
ОтветитьYeah have fun getting your printer to work properly when doing it wireless. I know with ours it was not even close to the their advertising which makes us think its just as easy as plug n play. We ended up wanting to pull pull hair out when Brothers customer service blamed the problems on Microsoft Windows and Microsofts customer service blamed it on Brothers software
ОтветитьPrinters: Combining software, electronics, and mechanical systems. So you get to have problems at all levels. Then add printing over WiFi on a network with unmanaged DHCP so the printer will just change address every now and then.
ОтветитьMy AOC monitor has an integrated usb hub which uses a type B to A cable to attach to the computer.
To this day, it is the only type B cable ive seen.
I remember a time when laser printers were installed easily, one floppy disk with a small driver file or executable and DONE. Granted, back then printers were more expensive but still. I think - and yes it those types of thinking meaning "good luck trying to convince me otherwise" - that the printer software bloated due to the ever-present need to "connect" (aka "send me your data"), needing to accept legal contracts, disclaimers, the software loading services at startup to search, gather and send them, and I'm even thinking (but could be wrong) that there's some advertisements in there also ("shop for supplies"? c'mon).
Ответить"Printers are never easy" - true, because each manufacturer wants to include their own software in printers, understandably. But most of the time the software is complete shit. The underlaying technology is usually the same. Something similar to VTxxx written to the interpreter and then rendered on paper. But, of course, essential tools like debugging hardware components on printers is a nice feature, and that also usually requires software from manufacturers.
ОтветитьI have seen them all. USB standards is an annoying topic. You always have the wrong one in stock.
ОтветитьPro Audio stuff still uses USB B 2.0 as standard
ОтветитьVery cheap and bad explanation. Thanks for wasting my time...
ОтветитьThere's a reason for yet another USB connector, the type C. This will be the ultimate universal connector. And I mean universal as in Apple better get their ass on board because if they won't, they can say bye bye to sales in Europe. No more proprietary connectors.
ОтветитьMy question was less about "Why isn't it just the same connector on both ends?" and more about "Well, why, if it is called 'universal' is there even more than one version of the connector? Why do we have Universal A, B, and C? Why can't we just have a single universal port for devices that provide power, and a single universal port for devices that receive power? (at least until USB C on both ends takes over)"
USB-A connector was and is indeed universal. Most, if not all, devices have a USB-A connector. That's what I am talking about. Why then did we have USB-B, Mini-B, and Micro-B? Doesn't seem universal at all... let alone when you have a proprietary connector (cough lightning cough).
Not true. There was mobos that had connection USB-B to USB-B or USB-A to USB-A connection and You could connect random PC to them by USB to create Ethernet-Over-USB network.
ОтветитьLet's see type b devices I have (they are much more common than this video suggests), ups's, docking stations, USB hubs, printers, audio mixers, scanners, kvm switches, hard drive docks, and I'm sure forgetting at least 3 more, they are everywhere.
ОтветитьActually mini usb was common for smaller devices before micro usb and it was a better connector than micro imo.
Ответитьthe arduino connector
