there was a lot going on that was propaganda, portraying the children as little robots, enslaved by the evil regime and forced to work like in a gulag, "win or die!", truth is, it was not like that, and yes, reporters from my country, itself in a military dictatorship at the moment, traveled to "evil, communist" Romania to interview Nadia and were surprised to be welcomed and not being followed and/or threatened with being sent to some concentration camp. In Romania they were very proud of her accomplishments and really wanted to showcase their country and their sports program. I'm not defending their government, totalitarian governments are always bad, wherever side they are. This woman is a great athlete, who had to live all her life defined by something she did at only 14 years old, in the course of some hours, yet she carries on with grace and humility. And regarding exploitation of children by evil communists, you have all those sexual abuse of athletes accusations all over the western world in sports, so I guess nobody is not guilty

I must say, Nadia, is a beautiful, strong, common sensed lady! She is no doubt one of my favorite athletes of all time...and a most inspirational person!

The interview was way to big for the interviewer, totally uninformed of the sport and struggling all the way to get a political statement from Nadia, unsuccessfully though. What a wasted opportunity

Romanians do the gymnastics with the grace of a dancer. Beautiful country and people ! We lived there from 1993- 1996

News Flash to the interviewer She was 14 years old!!! Smh!!! She was a child. A CHILD LADY!!!! SHE WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE fOR WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THAT COUNTRY!!!!

Beautiful inside and out.

She wasn't a defector of the Romanian people or the love of her country. She only defected from the horrible treatment and abuses she endured by the communist regime. To this day Nadia still won't mention them by name or call them out for fear of retributions to her or family, friends still in Romania. She is a (inter)national hero as evidenced by her successful return and invitation. Heck Nadia and Bart even got married in Romania. True respect she earned all those years ago.

Above the greatest gymnast of all times other seven perfect 10's. Very humble. Very gorgeous. Very intelligent. Very hardworking. Very patriotic. Very inspiring. Humanitarian/Special Olympics supporter.

She was being grilled for “dirt” big time but she was able to stand her ground. I’m sure she had a lot more than most other kids during those times due to her fame. She wasn’t aware of how people struggled if she had everything available to her. She could have looked around and noticed what was going on with people. She seemed a bit clueless or is still brain washed to never say anything against the dictator and his gruesome ways. I was there and remember it very well and I got to leave at 13 in 1987.

Just like her routines... absolutely clear and cool..composed...another perfect 10...She and her family remain blessed

The host is trying to get something against communism from Nadia’s mouth but she has responded very cleverly. Especially, answer to the question about that US is more liberal. It has developed a lot of respect for her. long live Nadia!

Mi mom Inge von der Forst was world champion in swimming in 1939 in Breslau and as a German born she emigrated to Chile and she swamm in Breslau for Chile. 2009 she was inagurated to the Museum Olimpic of Chile the same day Nadia Comenichi was enagurated in Chile and the Embasator of Romonia was present at both inagurgen taken at the same time. I am Sonja daughter of Inge and took my mothers record and became national champion given the Condor award.I just like her to know about that event in Chile enagurating my mom. Thanks.

Mi mom was 14 years old and European champeon in Germany and put into the Hitle youth , that is why all the family emigrated to Chile.

I was 10 in 1976..
Because of the time-difference, my granddad sent me early to bed, so we could watch Ms Nadia Comăneci LIVE on TeeVee.
Let's just say that we didn't care about Bruce Jenner..

No disrespect, but Ms Elena Mukhina is, in my opinion, the best gymnast who ever lived.
