I have got a lot mechanical sound and vibrations from my neighbouring wall...can anyone suggest a better way to reduce all this mess..😢

One thing I do on doors that swing in, is to allow the material to over lap the left/top/right so that it covers the gaps between the door and door frame. This will stop or reduce any sound that is coming through that space.
As far as doing this on the bottom of the door, it is usually fine when there are hard surfaces on the floor, but can be tricky if there is carpeting.

So if I'm using "sound absorbing" materials does the material itself actually "hang on" to the sounds it's been absorbing and then allow me to recall those sounds in the order they were stored by simply squeezing the sounds out of the material when I want to re-hear what I've stored.

This is none sense😡. Those foams are for acoustic treatment. NOT SOUND PROOFING! No professional would recommend this video. Basically sound proofing involves sealing any air gaps (making the room air tight), adding mass on the walls and de coupling added drywall or floating floors from the structure so sound won't travel through solid objects. This video was made by their marketing team to fool you to buy materials that serves another purpose.

We should also talk about the VOCs in some materials

This company obviously doesn’t know what it’s doing. Acoustic panels DO NOT sound proof. They help to reduce reverberations/echo not nothing much on Insulation which is STC

Soundproofing is different than sound diffusion. Soundproofing is construction of a room within a room. Sound diffusion is stopping the sound wave from bouncing around the room. Look it up.

Few problems
1. No, this doesnt soundproof the room, it reduces echo
2. Dont use spray adhesive, use something temporary like tape in case you change your mind later.

Sound absorption and isolation are NOT the same this entire video it's much more useful for someone who wants to treat a room for recording and get rid of the sound vibrations bouncing on the room causing problems such as reverb, but you can still hear the noise after doing all of that...

What about the bass traps ?

too bad the soundproof foam looks so ugly... it is probably not super healthy to have in your living quarters either. Most if not all glues and synthetic materials evaporate harmful chemicals into the air. Seems like rugs are a healthier and prettier way for sound absorption, but it will not isolate as much sound as the synthetic materials

Foam panels are for echo reduction. This isn’t soundproofing, this is echo reduction within a room. If you want the sound to not carry past the walls, you need mass. That’s why they make sound proof insulation, drywall and vinyl panels.
