Hi I hope you can help me. I have Ubuntu 20.04. I have a lot of movie files that are in DTS-HD-MA and TrueHD. But VLC won't pick up these formats. I know it's not working because my AV Receiver isn't picking it up. I used to use Windows 10 with K lite codec pack with MPC it worked fine. Is there an alternative to this with Ubuntu thanks.

I tried dual booting my windows surface laptop 1 with first Ubuntu 20 and then Linux mint 20 there after but in both scenarios, the keyboard would not work as soon I as passed the grub menu while in Live install. I tried to completely install each OS to see if i would update/upgrade but still got the same issue. The mouse would work though so it looks like I’ve missed out using both of the latest LTS versions. Is there anything I need to do?

Hey Dude! there are GNOME Extensions that can clean up your screen real estate. I'm not an Ubuntu user but DO use GNOME 3.36. I can get rid of the top bar and get rid of the activities button. Your rant is about something that is easily customisable.

The calculator app is no longer a Snap app since version 20.04.1. You can verify Snap apps by opening terminal and typing Snap List or lsblk. You will not find Calculator in there anymore. Most likely due to the problems with how slow it was.
Snaps suck because they are slow and can be older too.

I like Ubuntu but this Snap enforcement even in the apt pkg mgr is truly not a good experience. I am just now trying Ubuntu anyway and have removed Snapd.

The merging of the title bar into the top panel is an awesome vertical space saver that I wish all modern desktops would consider a priority. Thanks for covering that. I wish more videos emphasized this. Additionally, the unity desktop offered a feature where (even on non-maximized windows) it would merge the application menu into the title bar. That's another feature I wish newer desktops would implement. Ubuntu still hasn't gotten the GNOME desktop to be as good as Unity in these respects. I'd say Ubuntu 20.04 looks better than Unity did, but can't beat Unity's space-saving and workflow (especially in multiple monitor setups and when using multiple virtual desktops). Unity is still the king in these respects. I use Kubuntu 20.04. Although I don't like its defaults, I'm able to make it look and act like the Unity Desktop a lot better than what Canonical has achieved with Gnome.

If I think about using 14.04... the USER could customize everything so easy.

I think this is a great video and I agree with almost all of it except for the notion that the desktop should be updated in an LTS release. LTS releases aren’t for people who want the “cool new feature”. It’s for businesses who have to update documented processes, training materials and instructions whenever changes are made to a user interface. This also makes LTS great for novice users like grandparents who don’t want to deal with those cool new changes. If you want the cool new anything an LTS release isn’t for you, but there is substantial value in a user interface that doesn’t change for an extended period when it comes to productivity.

You can install the Extension called 'unite' to get rid of the title at like in unity . It's really good .

That's just GNOME Shell with a modified dock and title bars.

I always uninstall the snaps and enable flathub integration. Way better. I don't like the snap slowness, closed source backend and complete canonical control. Not that I don't trust canonical, but we shouldn't have to.

You can change the title bar, size of the font,switch to another theme.This is not big deal.Its stable and good looking version.And i prefer Synaptic for software instalition.

My experience about the opening application faster than you showed is depend on to have SWAP partition and RAM capacity. it's so different, you can try it.
