The breast feeding argument was false since Parisa doesn’t breast feed her baby. I think she should have thought that through more if she was having problems with her husband. If she had continued breastfeeding she would have an argument to keep the child with her. Especially since Iran is wanting all mothers to breast feed until at least 2 years of age. Preferably for 3 years.

Sajjad seems to be ignorant of the custody laws in Iran. The law is if the parents divorce or separate the child stays with the mother until 7 years of age. After that the child goes to live with the father. The Iranian government feels strongly that a young child needs his mother until the child is 7 years old. Personally I think it needs its mother until 13 years of age.

Parisa can take her baby to the doctor for free. There is free healthcare for children up to age 8, and for pregnant mothers. There is also different insurance plans for single mothers and poor people. Parisa should have looked into healthcare for her daughter.

It is too bad they have so many arranged marriages. Most of them never work out for the women. Divorce is really on the rise in Iran . Women aren’t putting up with a mean, selfish husband anymore. I read that one in every four marriages end up in a divorce in Iran. Women aren’t putting becoming more educated, and better able to take care of themselves. They don’t need to stay in a loveless marriage.
