Agreed
ОтветитьThe medical elements of the show may not be accurate but they mostly reflect what the predominant scientific thinking was at the time, so the series is actually mostly accurate, since the characters would likely have said and thought these things
ОтветитьThe inaccuracy in how people thought of radiation was i think justified because people that time never knew about radiation illness or seen disaster like this...
So they speculate But wounds are actually hyped up.
This woman has a strong accent. Do native speakers understand her well?..
ОтветитьMost of the show/series was portraying the effects of external exposure. What about the repeated low dose internal exposure through ingestion of cesium contaminated food after the fact in contaminated areas where people were told they could go back to. In the following years after the incident, this had been found to be far more injurious than previously believed and especially to young people? I guess I felt that HBO's failure to represent this in the movie was a huge omission.
ОтветитьIIRC, potassium iodide likely being ineffective if given that late was actually addressed in the series.
Well, basically, other than a few symptoms they exaggerated for more drama impact, most of the things she pointed at were actually consistent with people being misinformed back then.
Also, it's chilling that some things were actually arguably WORSE than portrayed, like the damage caused by incorrect dosages and firsthand stories of the coverups.
Thank you!
ОтветитьIn the Soviet Union, the government did not permit a nuclear disaster.
Therefore there was no need to train medical personnel to treat radiation exposure and sickness.
Thus the series was correct in having medical personnel guess on how to deal with radiation exposure.
The government dealt with a nuclear power plant meltdown by simply not allowing it.
Except the firefighters had way more radiation than the Soviet government would admit, thus they were radioactive. If you look up how much is universally fatal they had double that dose
Ответитьso basically drama drama drama drama
ОтветитьHad to watch the same commercial of John Travolta dressed up as Santa Claus three times within three minutes to see this video so I gave up.
Ответитьthe number how many people died.... we will never know. and we will never know how many people had a shorter life. people who were exposed to the radiation and lived long, could live longer .
ОтветитьWeird to me that this show is acted exclusively by actors who’s first language is english. We not talking about how unrealistic that in itself is, because, you know… that’s weird.
ОтветитьThe guy at the start makes me hungry for pizza 🍕
ОтветитьShe looks like that actress who had played khomyouk in the show wtf
ОтветитьTo be honest, as a civilian/ local resident in an emergency nuclear evacuation…I would not want to have know about the actual REALITY of the situation! No need, just evaluate. Absolutely HORRIFIC! 😢
ОтветитьThis is an important video. Getting basic scientific facts wrong, even in a fictionalized account, can have serious repercussions. I'm really disappointed that the team at HBO would spend so much time getting the cinematography and acting so perfect, but fail to have an expert check their medical facts.
ОтветитьScience not fear!
ОтветитьWhat an incredibly patient, intelligent, stalwart woman. These are the types of people I see as heroes.
ОтветитьBefore is will
Ответитьthis is a very important video. more like this!
ОтветитьUkrainian SSR, Soviet Union (Present-day Ukraine)
ОтветитьOn the radiation burns, I'm pretty sure there's an actual video that is akin to the portrayal in the show
ОтветитьChernobyl was a dramatisation, not a documentary so it's to be expected there's elements that are not accurate.
ОтветитьIt only matters to people affected by the radiation, apparently.
ОтветитьSo basically, the reality was even worse.
ОтветитьVery interesting
ОтветитьLudmila was incredibly irresponsible snd stupid in the show.
ОтветитьWell said Dr. Alla! Information based on Science, not Fear!
ОтветитьPeople with acute radiation sickness CAN INDEED be a danger to others if they happen to still be contaminated with radioactive materials, which COULD be the case in a nation where proper procedure and the truth is criminalized. The special effects and some of the facts in this production were indeed inaccurate in ways, but decontamination will not always be taken seriously.
ОтветитьThis, too, shows whatta horribly rotten corrupt society the USSR was. Of course Putin is missing it.
ОтветитьShe is fascinating. She should do a TED talk! I’d watch it!
ОтветитьSo this women is still trying to save Russian government. It was bad but not this bad. 😂 😅
ОтветитьChernobyl is the greatest documentary about the Coronapanic.
Ответитьshapiro ? oh shes jewish
ОтветитьA Russian who didn't question the Kremlin during the accident? Yeah I'm gonna not believe anything you say
ОтветитьThanks for interviews...but I'm looking at a point about that place being empty aside a few personel at the time it was damaged ...or at least shortly after..is that true or was it don't to rob the remainder of highly toxic elements ? 😊
ОтветитьThis lady looks like she knows EXACTLY what she is talking about! We need more than Mrs Shapiro!
ОтветитьSuch a great scientific and a person
ОтветитьThe Chernobyl hbo series was just a masterpiece
ОтветитьLoad of nonsense. She’s nowhere near qualified to talk about the things she is.
ОтветитьShe must protect the integrity of the mother land
ОтветитьThe female doctor is a made up fictional character that didn’t exist.
ОтветитьThis show is somewhat mixed impression… brilliant backdrop and camerawork, engaging and intelligent. But also you have a very inappropriate take on that kingdom of lies late ussr was all about, straightforward cringe scenes like the one with coal miners and the minister and some myths about radiation.
ОтветитьIt could be argued that the characters in the series not telling medical facts is not necessarily the series being inaccurate. While not medically accurate, it could be historically accurate since people at the time either didn't know any better or told lies on purpose.
