The storyline is just like any other romance movie involing royalty. How they missed a mark with this film since it's set in South Africa and supposed to be based on an indigenous prince from a African royal family. However this storyline does nothing in showing a culture of african Royalty and how it works in a republic nation intertwining with the current plot of the film. Rather this story easily can be film in western countries without changing 99% of what we see here.

There should be a sequel

Good movie but a few questionable moments. So the Amitu’s are a Royal family in South Africa. Which royal dynasty did they represent? Also the lack of a native South African language in the script is questionable. If I’m guessing correctly, Chidike is or Nigerian/Igbo origin. In as much as I can see that the storyline was more focused on the Mandla and Riley’s love story, I feel like the African royalty experience was not much of a cultural representation but showed a Eurocentric Royal representation. Would rate this one a 5/10
