Ann Pettifor is wrong to quote Ben Bernanke when he said that the money for bail outs was not "Tax Money". Bernanke is correct if he means in the context of the money not being tax money at the time because it is borrowed money being a loan at the time it was created. It was borrowed money. Later it does became tax money because all of it was created out of borrowing from the Reserve bank which lent it to so they could spend it in which way they saw fitfor bail outs. Eventually all of the borrowing has to be paid back through taxation simply because the private sector alone is the eventual of all debts since government has no way other than taxes to pay out borrowed money.

they are so close but not quite there, they understand the problem but misconstrue the answer. They even acknowledge that their politicians don't understand the complexities of the economy themselves but still somehow wanna put them in control of the money. Who decides what is a productive venture or not? a bunch of beauracrats in London or the markets and the millions of participants consumers and entrepreneurs in that market competing for goods themselves? saying "oh all we need are a bunch of politicians of superior moral standing to only print when the politicians (who most of which are lawyers not business people) feel that particular projects will be productive or not" is irresponsible and illogical.

So you wanna shake the yoke of the banks for the yoke of goverment officals? Do you seriously think the politicians won't be tempted to to say that the ventures of the people that fund their campaigns, or that they are invested in personally. Are productive more productive than other less politically connected peoples's are? Or that they could possibly predict the 2nd or 3rd order effects of the decisions on both individual and business cost? it's just not possible, economies are too large and complex for central planners to be able to accurately judge the productivity of various projects and the temptation to abuse that privilege is too strong, Absolute power corrupts absolutely. NOBODY should have control of the money supply and by nobody, no one individual, or institution controlling it. Then we all do! business and consumer alike through free market economics.

they say the efficient economic theory failed but it wasn't allowed to actually be tested after 1970's when we went off gold in the modern economy, if you look at the early parts of the gold standard that exactly what happened! it was the most prosperous and innovative era in human history. the market prices accurately showed real growth not inflated fiat money printer debt growth and people invested in industry they knew would be productive based off of real market prices back by gold not fake paper money.

The real answer is a return to non-governmental commodity hard money like the gold standard of yesteryears or Bitcoin which is vastly more accessible to those countries vulnerable to currency wars and economic slavery
