The first season of this show set the bar so insanely high, the later seasons weren't even close to this one.

amazing storytelling...

I love this scene for two reasons:
1. We don't see what Marty finds in the truck, so the audience's imagination runs wild with the horror he discovered. His direct action with Reggie informs us of its severity: no threats, no beatings, just death.
2. Rust knowing immediately that killing Dewall is the only move. Not only because he witnessed an execution by a peace officer that would mean prison for Marty and perhaps himself, but he likely would've done the same if roles were reversed.

Season 1 should be exhibited in the Louvre and sent in a spaceship to the ends of the universe so that stellar beings know what humans are like. If this is not a work of modern art, life is worthless

I can understand Marty's rage but wow, killing Reggie backfired big time.

I admire how Rust doesnt flinch or question Marty's decision to shoot Reggie. No morale component explained, just "He must have a good reason" and immediatley takes action to back him up.

I saw TD when it first came out and I couldn't stop watching until the last episode

Love how quickly Rust analyses the situation, takes in Marty, knows he wouldn't have killed that dude without due cause and realises they have to kill Dewal to ensure the loop is closed.

Can’t believe how rare it is to see shrapnel from an explosive in movies & tv. Rust almost died from a small explosion 100+ meters away, most movies characters survive explosions in a room with the bomb.

I wish I could go back and watch this season the first time again. I watched each episode just about every night of the week until the next was broadcast. Best writing, directing, and acting ever assembled. I’m in the minority on season 2, I thoroughly enjoyed it also. Especially after watching it a second time. Season 3 was also great. So come on, HBO, make us a season 4.

I like how in a split second the good cop bad cop role switches and Rust realises that Marty losing his cool means they are brothers in arms forever - since he is the one who devises the plan to cover for him and never judges or chastises him for losing his cool.
