Sorry, don’t fall for the old climate agenda so stopped watching the video at the start.
ОтветитьWhere’s Wainwright?! Shocking oversight.
ОтветитьWas John Dalton a poet and lyercist? If so can you recommend any of his work.,
ОтветитьYour narrative is a load of rubbish.
ОтветитьA video on the place I live, fantastic
ОтветитьMay I commend the author's description of the sheep.
ОтветитьEventually Wordsworth realised that clouds don't always "wander lonely", they form big groups of clouds which turn the place dark and rain on everything and spoil people's day. I'm surprised it took anyone living in the northwest of England any time to see this. 😊
ОтветитьWren is trash
ОтветитьA little known fact is that Cumbria was its own kingdom for a while, it was only incorporated into Scotland after the last Cumbrian king Dumnail was killed in battle by the English and Scots
ОтветитьInteresting you mention the sheep at the end, when there were people who campaigned against the Unesco heritage status because of the presence of the sheep which they blamed for deforesting almost the entire area.
ОтветитьLol I live there
ОтветитьGenial fluffballs. Love it! Hey, Simon, why did you Change your shirt twice? 😉
Tax Inspector comment was hilarious.
Thanks for introducing me to that poetry. If I had ever heard of Mr. Woodworth(mssp?) I had long forgotten him.
Anyone else remember when this almost became a nuclear wasteland?
ОтветитьThere is room in the lake district for both sheep and rewilding. This is particularly true as there are fewer sheep farmers. Designated areas for the different regions could be established with farmers paid to support Wilding of areas near them thus supplementing their income.
ОтветитьKnown for their bearded manliness..
Ah, clan Whistler. From the land where mountains migrated north, and hair migrated south.
🤣
Flippen heck Simon you can't talk about the Lakes and not mention Alfred Wainwright :o
ОтветитьEnglands Greatest Wilderness? Please come to the lake district and show me where abouts the wilderness is? I cannot find it.
Ответитьnever heard that poem, or if i have it didnt make an impact...
ОтветитьIsn’t this (edit. The sponsor rend) the same company that recommends non dairy milks to minimize carbon footprint but don’t mention the massive levels of deforestation and other environmental destruction that results from expansion of the “non dairy” milk industry? Soy. Almond. Oat. They all result in razing ecosystems and killing millions of creatures necessary for the harmony of the environment. Hypocritical at best. Ignorant at worst.
ОтветитьGoing there tomorrow, never been in winter before and it looks like there will be interesting weather
ОтветитьAre you telling me that if the invasive species goes away, the native flora will grow back? How awful.
ОтветитьIt's not a wilderness but an area heavily influenced by man it's beautiful but not a wilderness
ОтветитьNoice ending. We’ll have to get used to this, there are just too many people on the planet. Enjoy the wilderness while you can.
ОтветитьNo mention of Alfred Wainwright?! 😮 shocking....
I just hope that means we'll get a full video on the great man.....
One of the reasons I buy New Zealand/Aoteroan wool is bc they have laws re: the treatment of sheep and it makes my mom happy when I can buy wool from ethical wool farmers. I’d switch to British and Canadian producers if it made my mom happy.
ОтветитьI live in Cumbria and I really never knew how famous the lake District was. I know I am very lucky to live here but it does get boring on rainy days. Busy in summer as well.
ОтветитьIf you think Herdwicks are cute, then check out Herdy. Money from their sales even goes to a fund to help farmers.
ОтветитьFun fact: There's only one lake in the Lake District(Bassenthwaite) the rest are "waters and mere's)
ОтветитьBipedal apes miraculously appear after the Bible's history starts. Nice.
Ответить“Primeval Nightmare”??? Ok…
Ответитьthis destroys my soul
ОтветитьThe lake district is indeed England at its greatest . . .
. . . I'd argue because it is England at its most Scottish 🤣🤣
Visited in 2017 and it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve been!
ОтветитьI have lived in the lake district for 10 years now and it is absolutely the best place to live in the UK sadly however tourism is a blessing and a curse here. The area's natural beauty is disturbed by ignorant tourists that destroy our home, leaving litter everywhere and parking on roads not fit for cars, the latter of which destroys the natural landscape. I am not saying all the tourists are like this but it is a real problem here.
ОтветитьJust my .02 as a stupid American with no skin in the lakes region game and no knowledge of the ecology/economy/anything else.. I'd ditch as many sheep as possible and rewild as much as possible. Everywhere needs more trees.
ОтветитьLovely place. Wouldn't make top hundred in Scotland
ОтветитьThis is one of the most enlightening videos I have enjoyed for quite a while. Thank you!!
ОтветитьThere is only one lake in the Lake District and that’s Bassenthwaite Lake - 5.3 square kilometres, Windermere is a mere and there are collection of other waters and meres and tarns google them
ОтветитьI like how he said that the UK gets cheap lamb from New Zealand and yet in NZ we probably pay more for it than in the UK🤦
Ответитьtake me to the lakes where all the poets went to die
ОтветитьYou should do a video on Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada and the Group of Seven.
ОтветитьI love the Lakes and I enjoyed identifying the different places shown. My home from home, Wast Water, was so heavily used in the edit that it made my heart sing. Thank you, Jen, for letting me see my heaven. 😊
ОтветитьI visit twice a year to walk on the fells and will do until I'm too old to. It truly is a beautiful landscape
ОтветитьI grew up in Kendal, some 12 miles from the Lake District. Very lucky to be able to look out my window and see the mountains and the fells
ОтветитьLake district was on my bucket list, but man was i disappointed, what a hole lol.
Nothing special at all, especially if you've been to tropical islands or seen Australia or even National parks in Australia.
Wish i had my time and money back lol.
Hey Simon, I would really love to see a video about how the Aglos and Saxons came to be in England? I have a rudamentary understanding that the Britons invited them to help deal with the Scots and Picts, but I would really like to know more. Who the Anglos and Saxons were, and how it came to be that they would dominate over most of England. Also, since you mentioned the Vikings, how they also came to stay and influence the country.
ОтветитьSimon and team, your most poetical and best ever video. Congratulations 👏
