The Fallen of World War II

My long overdue response to all the comments about the film's use of the phrase "Nazi soldiers." It was a mistake, and I regret it. When we recorded the narration for the other languages (available on the Vimeo account), I corrected it so that it states "German soldiers." I need to go into the recording studio and make the correction to the english version too (along with a handful of other corrections), but I have regrettably not yet done so.
While it was certainly an error, I do not think it fits the comparisons many are making, i.e. that it is like calling American soldiers "Republican soldiers." I want to point out that in the case of Nazi Germany, it is correct to say Nazi invasions, led my Nazi commanders, which became Nazi occupations as part of a Nazi war effort. Calling soldiers of a Nazi war effort Nazi soldiers was a mistake, for sure, but a more complicated mistake than such analogies. As a personal note, I will say that I have close family members in Germany, and I feel that the transformation of the country after the war is a beautiful and inspiring story that we often take for granted. The word Nazi is often used to show separation between the German people today and a political movement of their past. In this case I screwed up and got it backwards.

This video was well done. Parts though sadly didn’t age well with the war in Ukraine. Senator Mitt Romney’s appraisal of the dangers of the Russians was much more accurate than President Obama’s during the 2012 campaign.

я посмотрел много реакций на это видео. и у многих помимо очевидных эмоций и слов, которые на своём месте, акцентируют внимание на изначиловании, убийствах своего народа (гулаге и затоплении) и т.п.
можно мне возразить, что про английские бомбардировки Берлина и ядерные бомбы они ведь сказали, даже акцентировали, что это именно против мирного населения, и про то, что мы больше других потеряли сказал - значит объективно!
но это и так все знают, про это он не сказал ничего нового!
блин, если все мысли писать - портянка получится, не умею мысли кратко излагать, но в голове я глубоко про это всё подумал.
и теперь я не сомневаюсь, что это именно пропаганда, которая завёрнута в такое мощное душераздирающее вирусное видео.
Т.е. механизм такой: люди видят, поражаются, ревут и т.п. - делятся по цепочке этим видео - но в итоге на подкорке остаётся именно анти-российское послевкусие.
люди сами этого не поймут, но в этом и прикол.
классический метод: раскачаные по эмоциям человек впитывает "нужную" информацию значительно сильнее. на этих технологиях наш враг собаку съел(((

Over 87,000 troops from India, and 3 million civilians died in World War II but these videos will always discount them from these numbers. The West will never acknowledge remember or respect the fallen soldiers of their colonies whom they oppressed and no less evil themselves.

It's funny. Most of the new comments are almost 3 or 10 months old, i.e. they were written during the war in Ukraine, but this conflict is not mentioned as if it did not exist and some glorify Russia as if the war crimes did not currently exist either . You can see how hypocritical this talk of peace is. There is no peace and war has not disappeared from Europe. On the contrary, he is back. And I bet my ass that Russia and China will lead us into the next world war.

I think if Robert Oppenheimer was still around today to watch this video he may feel better about the choices made in the 40s. When mutual destruction is assured, peace becomes the only reasonable option. Just hope the world continues this way.

Timeline error: WWII began as early as July 1937 - the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War that lasted 8 years.

small thing but I'm not particularly happy that Canada and Australia were 'grouped in' with the British forces. Canada and Australia were independent nations and declared war separately in support of Great Britain - they were/are NOT colonies.
