What if you have a defensive shooting not in your house or on your property? Are they going to try & get a warrant to search your house & whatever else to find any guns you might have?

Law enforcement like to use the term "probable Cause." does probable cause supersede a warrant to cease weapons?

I used to work in a steel foundry and occasionally had law enforcement agencies would show up with a load of forfeited firearms for destruction.

They may try to take the guns they know i have, but not a chance they wiuld get them all.

First thing is quit calling cops, if self defense is legal no reason for them to get there if it isn't requiring a call to cops is violating your right to remain silent. To start with Illinois has the absolute WORST firearm laws in the nation! If I had to drive through that state, I'd spend however long it takes to drive around that state than to enter it's borders!!

They aren’t taking anything unless evidence dictates so in a self defense case, with no charges to the innocent firearm owner.
They now at times will record the firearm, ser.#, etc.., and allow the firearm to be returned to the owner.
Serious crimes obviously are handled more seriously.

Any firearms taking unlawfully would not allow the example you gave, nor should anyone allow officers to cease anything outside of firearm used.

Their is no unlawful cary in my state. No. I would not give the cop my gun. And it would not be in a place where it could be seized by a warrant.

Kentucky here. Defensive shooting last summer. Shooting occurred on my porch. Cops took all my guns, pistols and rifles. Held on to them for over a week until the commonwealth's attorney decided not to charge. Couldn't anyway (Castle Law and No Retreat Laws)

i have a cheap firearm i use for CCW, it is not modified in any way so that it wont count against me. Doesnt even have an optic (usually useless in self defense anyway imo). I also have a cheap home defense weapon that i will use if needed (Lord willing NEVER). That way if they are seized for being used, Im not out much.

do not enhance any weapon you use for self defense...it WILL count against you. Everything else is locked up....nothing is left around.

Best strat is to store the collection somewhere only you know about on a seperate private property. They can search all they want, but if they can't find it, bohoo. Too bad, so sad.

please respond: what happens in the case that you used and “homemade” or 80% firearm in a self defense shooting in your home. and the possibilities of you having other 80% firearms in the home. ik it’s very possible that the cops could steal those firearms without any registration on them

Arizona, if you are pulled over for a traffic violation, lawfully carrying, they will confiscate your weapon. Once they have deemed in their mind all is good, your weapon is returned to you after 6-8 weeks. That is, if, no one has an interest in your weapon.
So I personally carry a throw away weapon that is not worth them keeping, knowing if I had a high dollar or desirable weapon I would not get back.

Move to a state that doesn't keep track of your gun purchases.

Be a real man and tell them their papers don’t mean crap and call a few buddies. That’s how you stop it. But they only took my pistol for like two weeks before I went to the sheriff and told him I wanted it back. He went and got the evidence box and handed it me. There’s nothing in the 2A that says, even if charged and convicted of a felony, can the 2A be stripped away.
