like i get that data collecting is bad, but the only thing comes to mind is making money off it, which companies in the US already do all the time, what these videos miss is an explanation on whats so bad about them having your info, so lets say a 16 year old girl hears China may have her info, like they have her email and password, how is that directly affecting her life, how is she in danger. Like so many of these videos mention how bad it is but give no examples, they make it seem that China is using their data for something sinister and yet never say what that something is. So i can't blame these kids for not really caring when theres no transparency on the complications of the data breach.

More importantly, if you look at the content on TikTok, there is really a lot to spy there.... All government secrets on the same place.
If China uses TikTok for spying on US, I would only encurage them, it would certainly lead to demise of their society.
Another, more recent piece of gold regarding TikTok is they blame it for the shortage of ammunition in Ukraine.....

Why is it important to not share data though? How will it affect us? I mean, it's ok for the same exact data to be collected by American companies so why is it important for Chinese companies not to have the same data? How could they use the data to create war? I think we're gullible, self entitled idiots that are so addicted to microbursts of dopamine that we would riot if it was taken away. I think this is just another story that is keeping us divided and on the edge of war and that we're being manipulated to hate countries and people that are in the way of where our leaders are taking us. This could be good and we just don't know enough to understand it or it is really bad. It would be nice to gather information from trusted, non-biased sources that have all the information that we need to understand exactly what's happening but I doubt that will ever happen.

Governments are stupid and slow to react to technology risks. Tiktok has already been banned from official devices in several governments including the EU itself. If governments already understand the dangers -- despite always being behind the technology curve -- what does that tell you?
