Maybe it was due to the rise of nationalism. More and more nations were more interested in forming their own empires.
I don't think France cared too much about the HRE in the first place. And Prussia was getting more interested in trying to unify the german minors, and create a unified Germany.
It could also have been because of the end of feudalism. The HRE strikes me as very feudalistic, with many minor nations all paying tribute to the one at the very top (the emperor).

It's honestly amazing that the Holy Roman Empire lasted as long as did. It's like even It's own rulers where tried of it by this point.

This is Fake News. The ruler of Holy Roman Empire have the title "Kaiser" this come from "Cäsar". The last German Kaiser was "Kaiser Wilhelm II". Germany is still the Holy Roman Empire

It's worth mentioning that Francis II remained Emperor of Austria until his death in 1835.

The funny thing about Napoleon not wanting the title of Roman Emperor is that the fear of Napoleon getting said title was the only reason why Francis II. abdicated. He didn't want Napolean to get his hands on the title of the ceremonial "leader of Christianity" as it would've given him more legitimacy. That's why Francis II. also took the Imperial crown jewels with him to Vienna instead of leaving them in Nuremberg where they belonged. To keep Napoleon from getting the Crown which was percieved as sacred to the Germans and using it to just revive an HRE under his rule. I believe this is also a reason why Napoleon didn't even attempt this. He had no access to the things necessary to give him legitimacy as Roman Emperor.

In 1814 at the Congress of Vienna the British wanted the HRE to be restored because they wanted the electorate vote from Hanover. They were annoyed that none of the Germans wanted it back but eventually had to agree to the Confederation.
