One of the most honest videos. I was trying to find exactly such a video, but all the time got dolomitic comparisons where people don't really criticize something but say it's on your preference. You bro criticized what is to be criticized and i was so much inclined to buy legion go but now I'm either gonna wait, or gonna buy old Asus ROG Ally or new Asus Rog Ally X. I know waiting might be good because Intel ultra 2 is launched and msi is working on it's second gen console. Let's see

The Legion Go is just hard to beat once you get used to that bigger screen and customization. Once Legion Go Gen 2 is released, it's likely going to dominate everything.

Windows OS was not my thing. I ordered a steamdeck instead. Too much tinkering with the legion go. Yes the bigger screen and resolution is nice, but sort of pointless if we can't play games on it and have to downscale to 800p and then the fonts get blurry and such. Well made video!

How does the rog ally do with davinci resolve? Is it possible to render at 1080p 60fps? Does it lag?

Ive had a Legion Go since launch so pretty much a year now. I also have a Steam Deck. I would never think about taking either out anywhere without having them in their "included" case. I find while that you treat it carelessly then want to complain when it doesnt hold up.

I've a steam deck oled , a legión go and until yesterday i had a ally x too. For me is steam deck oled all the way, user experience, support, easy of use, all its functions works out of the box, its the easiest to configure , the trackpads are great, good battery life etc.

Second would be the ally x for its power and battery, BUT in my personal experience the quality control is so bad....my first ally x was unable to charger while playing, so i returned it to the shop , and the second one, this time from amazon, had ssd write speed issues in less than a month...so i returned it too and isn't going to be a third oportunuty.

Legiom go has great versatility, screen, power , and fast charging, but lacks on battery and resolution problems, but is a great machine too.

Spot on with the Legion go. Software is trash tier but the bigger screen real estate makes up for it. Great channel btw!

Tho bazzite and other solutions are available I would love for a comparison video once valve official steam os comes to the Lenovo and the rog ally x I’m thinking of which one to get but if I end up choosing the rog or Lenovo I definitely want to use my steam os for it

Lenovo is pure trash. My Go has never worked right. I didnt figure out the issue until the return window was up. When plugged into a external monitor it will overheat and crash any time I try playing an even slightly demanding game. Lenovo support is an absolute joke. I also bought a legion tower that claimed 32gb ram around the same time. The problem is the dimm slots were bad, and all the motherboards they put in had the same dead dimm slots. 2 devices, 2 failures. Never again.

sadly none of these are truly future proof as they already announced a new extreame chip for early next year thats "supposed" to be around a 30% gpu and efficiency increase

I love the Steam Deck.. but the only thing that still keeps me tied to the Steam Deck instead of Rog Ally X is the presence of the trackpad, which I find super comfortable and very useful in many games

So basically, Ally X provided you get Bazzite on it. That's not something many are able to do even though it might be "easy". Given the prices and out of box features, Deck OLED is the clear choice.

Real answer: Buy a gaming laptop for better graphics and fps. You still get the portability if that's what you want.

Steam OS is coming to Ally.

Im not into pc style gaming handhelds but if i had to choose is the steamdeck since it has its own custom Os and is more affordable price wise.

Only one ive not owned is legion go other 2 were abysmal.

I had both versions of the steam deck. I have a switch and an ally (not the x) and my favorite has been the Ally. The switch has always sucked because of the stupid drift cons and the pay to play online scam.

It's not hard to optimize them for Windows but I guess from a less computer literate persons point of view its fair to say it's not optimized for handhelds.

I just bought a legion go in Canada bestbuy. their big deal in this year. $250 off and only $649+tax. will end on Oct 13.2024 and lots of location out of stock. I just pick up in downtown Vancouver. ally x is better and legion go 2 have to wait. So legion go is my only choice.

You just helped me out, thanks. I've really been contemplating upgrading my Ally Z1 extreme to the Ally X. I really want that improved battery, but until I see price reductions for Best Buy refurbished models at a decent price I'll stick to my extreme. Lord knows. As soon as I buy one the next version will come out.

I only have the Deck Oled and would prefer it, but I might in the future get a Legion Go too just for the cool controllers. Deck Oled is just a more fun system to play as a console which I prefer over PC gaming and for power intense games I have the PS5, so the Deck is perfect for the games I wouldn't have played on console to play on it/

You can install Windows on Steamdeck as well and dualboot, didn't you get the memo? And OLED is gamechanger for handhelds, so yeah..

Bazzite os is miles ahead better and it's about like steam os. It makes rog ally x worth it

I own a LeGO and a SD. Overall: Steam Deck....If you don't know which one buy a SD OLED. My Legion Go is though the preferred device (with Bazzite installed), it's just the screen. Lenovo 2 hopefully fixes the grips with this one, but it won't be very soon, Lenovo said.

Steam Deck OLED is my single fave piece of tech I've ever owned. 1 thing that not nearly enough people focus on in these videos, is that people LOVE playing older games! SD OLED has completely reignited my love for gaming with the ability to emulate all the classic consoles and play legendary PC games that I never got to, or haven't played in years on the go, with a gorgeous OLED display, and insane battery life (on older games and low power stuff, the SD OLED really shows it's insane efficiency, I played through almost the entirety of Half Life 2 on a 6 hour train ride the other day without charging). The few times that I have played new-ish games on it, I've been really surprised at what it can handle! It's extremely capable for everything BUT the absolute newest and most GPU demanding games (Which IMO make no sense to play on a handheld anyways). So unless you're specifically buying a handheld to play 2024 AAA games or you don't own any other more powerful console or device, and if you have ANY interest in classic, retro or indie gaming, I think the SD OLED is an easy winner. Obviously if you're rich, and don't mind doing a bunch of tinkering/customizing on windows/setting up dual booting with bazzite, etc.. then go for an Ally X, but otherwise the SD OLED is still my fave console/gaming hardware of all time

What can you tell me about the GPD Win 4?

I feel like your content is starting to be more generic and just repeat what every other content creator is telling us, try to sell it to us less and help us with the kinks, e.g how do we best use controller input on a game built for keyboard (like squad) is steam input the way, better to import bindings?? Or go through armoury crate, in the game settings to adjust controls.

Thanks for your videos, it takes a lot of time and work to put them together. I went with the Ally X, got a returned one for Best Buy for a great price (just missing the power adapter and cardboard stand). Went with it for full gaming library, battery, memory expansion, size, and screen. I like OLED but the screen on the Ally X is pretty darn good. Also, it plays any game out right now at a decent frame rate. I do have to tweak setting each time I bring up a new game, that’s a drag.
