I do agree with your list. However, I have no chickadees at my feeder. I live in an apartment. I have seen one or two, but not very many. I live in an apartment with a patio and there’s a little bit of yard space between me and the pool fence. I have two or three different species at my feeders and every now and then I’ll get a Cardinal or even a Robin feeding on the ground. I always feel blessed with a Cardinal , Robin or a Bluejay shows up. I even had a family of red wing blackbirds come to my feeder in spring. They are so pretty and I’ve always loved their calls. My most common bird is the house sparrow and the house finch I’ve had several nests hatch this year. And the fledglings are so cute to watch. They sit and flutter their wings to their mom or dad to get a morsel. I feed mostly sunflower seed hearts. I don’t like all the trash on the ground or the patio from black oil sunflower seeds however, I know those are the favorites for some of the birds.
I even had 2 Mourning Dove build, and lay a nest of babies three times the first year I was here for the spring and summer. It’s been three years ago and they even came back the next year and use the same nest. I don’t know if it was still the same mama and dad, or if it was one of the babies. I felt extremely blessed to have mourning dove lay their nest right above my patio door. I have some pretty good pictures of the fledglings. The day before for they fledged I got pictures. There were two of them in the nest. They’re so precious. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to getting to know your channel.

I miss seeing the bluebirds seen in this video. In western Washington, we have the stellar jay and the occasional Canadian jay, but never these blue and white beauties.

Isn’t it funny how across the pond we call chickadees, tits. that black cap chickadee in the uk is known as coal tits. Our gold finch is less vibrant. And our green finches look just like your young and female goldfinches. Even our blue jays are different…..

Fellow experienced feeder of wild birds—in VA.

I agree with everything, but the american goldfinch. I have seen ONE american goldfinch- ever.
I would replace goldfinch with a house sparrow.
Even the black capped chickadee is around, but again, I would say more popular of a choice would be a starling, black bird or a robin— where I am anyway.
Because the sparrows are plentiful!
Sparrows are seen at my feeders more than all other species of bird combined.
The—
♦️ CARDINAL: YES SO MANY-this is probably why it’s the VA state bird.
🔹 BLUE JAY: I have 2 I’m currently befriending. Gaining trust takes patience.
🔸 MOURNING DOVE: a literal ton of them! They basically live in my yard. Hard to tell male from female.
They are beautiful and I love the way they cooo00OOOoooooO0000Ooooo 🎶

We haven't fed birds in a long time mainly due to having barn cats for the farm. I never find birds dead thankfully but do find dead rodents from the cats. Anyway, the reason I'm commenting is that we put cat food out for the cats and over the last few months we have really become a popular attraction to the wild bird population. They come to the porch to eat cat food. I have sat along with the house cats and watched the bird entertainment on the porch. We have a resident pair of Northern Cardinals that we've seen for years who come in for cat food, we also have at least 2 Tufted Titmouse (beautiful birds) and quite a few Carolina Wrens (we're in South Carolina). No casualties, the barn cats are lazy anyway and don't do much else than lay around and ask for petting. Years ago when we did put out bird feeders I did see Blue Jays, Goldfinch and Chickadees. The Chickadees are the indoor cats favorites. I hear them outside the window often and the cats run to see what all the fuss is about. I may need to set-up some feeders again.

We see all of these except for goldfinches (only in summer so far here in western PA). We will have to try thistle. We also see house finches, Carolina wrens, downeys, red-bellied woodpeckers, juncos, titmouses (mice?), white-breasted nuthatches, and starlings and turkeys once in a while. Redtailed hawks and crows are also common in the backyard but not at the feeders.

I’m also partial to a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak that has been a frequent visitor to my upstate New York feeder. His rosy “bib” is a gorgeous accent to his black and white coloring. This summer one of his offspring appeared at the feeder as well, his “bib” was just barely visible it was such a pastel color, but a delight to see. The female resembles a female Purple Finch in shades of brown, but she is much larger.

I am here from Leslie's channel!
#5 mourning doves are the worst at the feeder! They knock the seed all over the place, bully other birds and stand squarely in the food while they poop! I still love them!
Chickadees are so cute, fluffy heads with feet!
I never see goldfinches, they are my state bird (NJ) and they are never here! Plenty of house finches, though!
Blue Jays are my favorite and they are far from the agressive bullies people think they are! And so so smart!
And of course, the Cardinal, always the first up in the morning and last to leave at night! So shy but so polite and beautiful!
I love the carolina wren, they sing so pretty and practically land on my head if I play a carolina wren recording!
Also, I have nuthatches, hairy AND downey woodpeckers, red bellied woodpeckers, tufted titmice, grackles, European starlings, robins (not at the feeder, though - they like worms!), brown headed cowbirds, plovers making nests right in the middle of a nearby parking lot, red tailed hawks and crows. Those last 3 do not come to the feeder, but we all know it when they are around!

"Mourning doves enjoy millet." That's a surprise. I didn't think any birds preferred millet. I thought the seed companies loaded bird seed bags with it to cut costs, not to actually feed birds.

Northeast part of SD here... Our neighbors rarely saw bluejays until we moved here (from CT) in 2018 and began providing black oil sunflower seed and peanuts (unsalted, duh... I can't stand the salted ones either and I know the salt is no good for birds here). It didn't take long for us to host 2 pairs of bluejays and more have become regular customers at what we call The Tooth & Beak, the "pub name" I gave to the east side of our property as bunnies, squirrels, and lots of different kinds of birds visit daily. Trees and a hedge in our neighbor's yard provide shelter and occasionally serious entertainment, e.g. when a pair of squirrels spent over an hour teasing a female Cooper's hawk. The north side provides "social distancing" with somewhat smaller trees, mostly for bluejays taking turns snagging peanuts from our window-feeder; a cottonwood on the south side once hosted a pair of mallards. The robins and bluejays serve as alarm clocks, and we're blessed to have both mourning doves and Eurasian collared doves as daily visitors.

We are so surprised that hummingbird are not number one, Not winning the top 5 or at least rated.
. Must be because of the extra trouble to clean the feeders and less range.
Hummingbirds,Blue Jay's Chicidee,Nut hatchet,gold finch and is how we rate.em
Enjoy your and Lindsey joining with a joint video.
We live in suburbs and.our birds are not as no fear of people so hard to get close and I D as that Nerd Lady birds act like no bb guns near her woods and that great for her.
We are glad to have our birds safe and we understand that they should not trust some people and after 4 years seems they don't mind our stares as a threat just treat us as old folks.
Two thanks for a wonderful teaching video to you each of both your team's efforts

Greetings - here from Lesley's channel! Enjoyed this video very much and have subscribed to support you. Looking forward to many more excellent videos. I would like to share how I feed the many birds, squirrels and chipmunks in my area. I put down different types of food (somewhat spread out) for everyone to enjoy on a clean section of driveway. When I see people trying to fight squirrels, I wonder why. After all, they're hungry, too. I also provide two large bowls of fresh water everyday so everyone can get a drink and have birdbaths. During inclement weather and winter, they get fed on the porch on a large boot tray (clean, of course) and one of the bowls is heated, so it gets put on the porch during winter. Much good luck to you with your channel!
