Love this guy but what he said about Melodeath was dumb as fuck. Better songs from In Flame's Clayman are Only For the Weak/Another Day In Quicksand. So if that shit sucks so does more melodic Black Metal band like Agalloch. Also there's Brutal Melodic Death like Intestine Baalism and Brutal Technical Melodic Space Metal like Decrepit Birth and you'll also be saying Kreator's melodic Thrash Metal album Ememy of God sucks... more research dude

I front an acoustic punk band and at our last show, sound guy says to me”You guys are the nicest smelling folk punk band I’ve ever met.” Yea that’s pretty much why we dont call ourselves folk punk.

Normal punk from the mid 70’s to early 80’s like black flag the germs, gg allin and the jabbers and etc. is my favorite era of punk
Edit: I just made it further through the video and I gues some of the bands I named are hardcore punk bands, but it isn’t like the exploited (heavier punk sound) which I really don’t listen to but do like.

In general, there's very little mention of noise rock on this channel. I'm bias as i play sub genres of noise rock but i dont think Arab On Radar, Lightning Bolt, Hella and some Melvins are far off in sound from most of the bands that are more commonly spoke upon here

Crusty folk punk is the worst!! Almost as bad as modern contemporary Christian music.

as a fan of great music, mostly what I don't like I label as "metal" although some metal stuff with more features of other genres sneak through my filter. Rock is a spectrum for sure - a weirdly segmented and looping spectrum - I just find it such a shame so many great talented musicians are wasted on metal bands and their fans. A lot of the best drummers and guitarists are strictly metal and never get the attention or accolades they deserve because the fandom/listeners is a hive of posers and fairly ineffective people.

Most of the worst advocates of the metal scene are in the metal scene. Also no matter how punky an emo band may seem, it is hopeless metal.

Rock/punk/ska are hopeful as well, not just bleak.

Metallica, Anthrax, Judas Priest, Killing Joke, Def Leppard, Faith No More, Bad Brains, Minor Threat. That's stuff I like from these genres.

hmm the joke about guys being into progressive death metal being virgins is a bit annoying. It implies that there aren't any girls who could be interested in that genre, which, although I personally don't follow it lol, I don't think it's weird at all. It annoys me how girls taste in music is always stereotyped. I've gone to metal shows and people have asked me "whose you're favorite band? BTS?" It's so annoying. Same with the math rock joke. There are plenty of female math rock musicians no? They wouldn't be interested in someone that likes the same genre they do? Those jokes just irked me a little, but an overall informative and great video nontheless.

Goth... Over used.. to Death.. no pun intended,, Post Punk, is where these Claimed "goth bands" birthed, Banshees, Cure, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Southern Death Cult..
Even now.. Goth is as it was, GOTH!!.. bands who embrace its label, Human Drama, Christian Death, London After Midnight for example..
History is Stubborn and should be when told .

SKA.. reading the title.. why is, Evolving folk Music from Jamaica,, becoming Ska, Rock Steady, Reggae..
Desmond Decker, Alton Ellis, to the Roots of traditional Skinhead, British Reggae if you want ... Upsetters.. and More.. Later Two Tone, much later SkaCore ... Soulless, tacky, for kids.. helped sperated the shows back in the day, from Traditional Ska rocksteady bands like HepCat, Oceans 11, from having to share stange with Mustand Plug, Real Big Fish.. those kids were not safe.. at shows .

As an 80’s goth girl I associate Goth and also Darkwave with post-punk but also New Romantics. I was listening to this back in the 80’s in high school. Gary Numan was not a punk that I can recall.

I'm a huge Chelsea grin fan (og Chelsea grin) and have been for a very long time.

I was patiently waiting for the deathcore breakdown and was pleasantly surprised to see that they got to wrap up the video.

Good shit man! Love your videos.

Your description of "core" bands is perfect. Wouldnt it be cool if insert band name had breakdowns?
Then there was a subgenre born of all of that called "Moshcore" which was basically like "What if insert breakdown core band name here had EVEN MORE breakdowns ala American Me/LGND/Kublai Khan/The Acacia Strain
