I think you don’t have to open the cpu cover just apply some thermal paste on top of it
ОтветитьReally like the video, it definitely help.
Ответитьmy rsx ihs has scratches on it .can i replace it using super guerilla glue?
ОтветитьI think the mistake I did was spreading the thermal paste to cover the whole top of gray squares?
ОтветитьHi
ОтветитьSo you can use just same thermal paste under the gpu and cpu as you would above?
ОтветитьJust bought a broken ps3 stripped it down added paste.... didn't work...I think my next step is to try this
ОтветитьHow did you get the tool so thin for the cpu?
ОтветитьI'd always clean the old thermal paste off before putting on more...otherwise the paste will not be that efficient and you'll likely have to do this again and again. You want the best thermal transfer possible.
ОтветитьThis was my mistake: I was changing the thermal paste every year, but not the paste that lies underneath the individual heatsinks. Nice video guys!
ОтветитьInstructions unclear: my ps3 is now a GoBot.
ОтветитьMy ps3 keeps switching off, yellow light flashing. If I do this, do you think it will solve it?
Ответитьgreat job i will do it for my son the ps3 so noisy many thanks.
ОтветитьSpot on, i'm planning on doing this next week when I get my thermal paste.
ОтветитьHello, my PS3 fat would start shutting down with YLOD randomly while playing games and I replaced the IHS. Only the easiest one though, the other I couldn't do it.
Now I turn it on and after the green lights appears, 2 seconds later it YLOD's right away. Could this mean I scratched something I shouldn't and now it's dead forever?
tanks
ОтветитьI wouldn't recommend prying the lid off the RSX. I just borked my slim trying that.
ОтветитьDude, love the video. Thx. The cell processor is cemented there like a brick lol, can't take it off no matter how much heat I give it, I'm just gonna do the RSX chip.
ОтветитьDid you put glue or silicone to put the cpu back? Need to do this to cool my ps3!
Ответитьhey planning to do this tomorrow but im scared to remove the plate you think it would improve if i just do the top off it and leave the metal alone?
ОтветитьExcelent Tuto broo thanks from Mexico!!!!
ОтветитьDefo think I need to do this with my cechc03 model but don't want to ylod it since it still works. Runs like a jet engine on any disc based game then occasional shuts itself off 🙈
ОтветитьBro I've never seen anyone remove the ihs. When i clean my consoles i just repaste the ihs and never have opened one. Is it necessary? Any tips would be appreciated
ОтветитьDoes this console still work ? I know the video is old but I am just curious. I have an original launch model CECHA01 60gb that is starting to sound like a jet engine, I don’t play it much just because I know if I do it will cause more problems down the road. It blows warm air out of the back so I know the heat is getting out as it should, I know the console has been opened before just not sure if anything was done to the IHS. Does any of this info sound like if I use these methods it could solve the problem I’m having ? I want to make this console last as long as possible.
Ответитьthats what we PC gamers do, when the CPU is overheated (delidding) fuckin nice :D hate when ppl still reball and destroy it even more ;)
ОтветитьHaving problems removing the cpu plate..any help please this is taking too long and I'm being careful with my board
ОтветитьI would do this but I already put thermal paste on top of the cpu and gpu and I don't have enough to reapply it on everything.
ОтветитьInsert BF1 or Last of US 1 play 50 Min and show again . Ready to Take OFF ( FAN NOISE )
Ответитьwha paste are you usins for reaply IHS plates?
ОтветитьHello, very good explanation, Straight to the point. My case is that I brought a ps3 fat that did not started up (blinking red light), so I used the heat gunner method just to warm up the chips without dismantle the plates, and that lasted just a few days. So I hope this time, removing the plates would work again and last... You're young and talented, very well done.
ОтветитьThis is by far the best video on the subject. Straight to the point. Damn man, I'm scared doing it myself as I've already killed one fat unit already.
ОтветитьWhy did you apply the new thermal paste on the old one ?
ОтветитьAre you not supposed to clean off the old thermal paste from the both??? Hmm
ОтветитьThanks for this!
ОтветитьGreat guide, thank you! I see you put thermal paste on the 4 memory chips too. Would it be okay to put conductive metal paste (I have Arctic Silver 5) on those 4 memory chips also? And is it better to leave the glue residue on the memory chips also?
Many thanks
i have a ps3 fat cachl03, the one which has heat sinks with fins...I changed the thermal paste on the surface of the heat sinks...but while pulling it apart, the sinks were a bit dented, does that make a difference? coz it overheats in 5 hours now but it overheats in 1 minute into heavy graphics game like GtA 5 and the last of us...will doing what u did help my problem? or is it because I dented the fins of the heat sink?
Ответитьi am trying to remove ihs and apply thermal paste where my cpu temp shows 83 when switching on to 87 max till running but my gpu temp stay at 43 do i have open both ihs and apply thermal paste but before i used cheap thermal paste over ihs .does cheap thermal paste works the same or not...
Ответитьidk why my ps3 fat's cpu started to overheat after summer now i'm doing around 83 degrees with 95%fan in game idk if i should do the same process as a YLOD.. im lost
Ответитьcrunched the cpu after taking out the gpu ihs.... would recommend nsc's ihs removal or at least watching a few different videos before attempting. watched this and tried to open straight away...
ОтветитьShould i glue the ihs or not
ОтветитьOMG do not do it like this, he did not scrached of the old paste lol made my week...
ОтветитьI just tried doing my PS3 but it was fixed by someone in the past and I think the asshole used super glue on the GPU so I'm not able to change the paste on it
ОтветитьGot my original backwards compatible PS3 and I know I need to do this as it’s been heavily used since 2007 and still is and sounds like a Jet taking off but I’m too scared of accidentally damaging the dye underneath the heat spreader
UPDATE: i did remove the IHS on the RSX as that is the easier one and I felt is more likely to fail than the cell and it came off really easily but I’ve left the cell as it is.
Mi like desde españa ;)
Ответитьhyve tutoriaali video oli kyllä tämä joo
ОтветитьDisassembled my old (bought back after 6-7 years) ps3 fat cechc04, then found your video. Ordered the tools, assembled back together with new paste, but its loud as before, now waiting for the tools to arrive, buy a 19 blade fan, and disassembly again, but this time following your instructions about the IHS. Thank you a lot. :)
bojler eladó.
Looks like u went a bit light on the thermal paste on the CPU it looked like u did enuff on GPU. Did u ever reopen it later and see how well it spread?
ОтветитьBEWARE!!! you have to pry the gpu open from the same exact side the guy shows in the video, otherwise you break some small components and the whole console stops working
now im really pissed cuz he didn't told me that and now i have to buy another ps3
This method can cool down CPU to 60℃ ? My CPU 82 to 84 ℃
