I thought a court appointed attorney was a public defender. At least that's how it is in New Orleans. The two are synonymous.

That is not how it works when u request a public defender. Its all about luck. Every attorney in ur county Has to take so many cases pribono. Public offender in other words, every year period no matter how good lawyer it is. He has to do so much so-called community service and take these free cases. So it's not about doing this in thit's all up to chance period when I requested a public offender. I got the second best lawyer in my city
