were there more questions you wanted to ask down the "would you not convince someone to be an atheist if you thought it wasn't good for them?" line of questioning?. Like how atheists on aggregate have worse mental health and give less to charity than theists?
Ответитьthat was fun, doug
to be fair, i thought you were going to go in on the trans hypocrisy stuff. and so you should
maybe it didnt feel like the right time ?
good, respectful discussion.
i completely agree with your issue with the people in the comments. most of them are hive mind nincompoops.
lucky for you, you got some pro tips from monkey at typewriter. man, ive had some run ins with that one.
When Doug is not trying to inflame situations he is very reasonable. But I feel like like most people with a Right wing / Conservative leaning worldview they say things to just get a reaction. Doug seems like that, he enjoys saying things in order to get an emotional reaction. A lot of people on the right survive on their Dopamine shots. While those on the Left survive on their “Emotional / Saviour” mentality.
So then you have this dynamic where Rightt leaning people have this “ATTACK” to get a reaction (Dopamine high) and the Leftist’s instincts is to react as the “Shield, nurturers and protector, saviours” etc.. That’s why the Right like Trump and the Left like Obama.😊😂
Will Paul and Eric be fired from The Line for letting Doug on? Enjoyed the interaction, particularly Eric's input.
ОтветитьThey even put Doug’s pronouns lol
ОтветитьMatt Dingleberry and Jimmy Snowflakes ❄️
ОтветитьI don't understand people who don't use dark mode.
ОтветитьAWESOME!!!!! Doug and Paul are my two favorite atheists!!!!
ОтветитьI'd say I agree with about 60% of the highlighted comments at the end.
Ответитьi thought this was a great conversation!!! very diplomatic!!! i like what Doug said about emergent complexity in the universe. i actually called into the line with a very similar argument for god about a month ago and talked to Paul and Erika about it. both were very nice.
ОтветитьWhen two worlds collide one decides to run away and cry.
ОтветитьThe Line are a bunch of chaser perverts
ОтветитьThe comment section of The Line is wild.
So many bigots.
Trying to be more dead inside, I am going to agree with you Doug, I listen to atheist content everyday for 2 big reasons: 1. To affirm that my decision to leave Christianity was the right one. Because leaving Christianity almost ruined my life. My wife almost divorced me, etc. And 2, because my subconscious is susceptible to magical thinking if left alone for too long. I’m like an addict that needs a daily dose of methadone to keep me off the hard stuff. I’d be curious to know what you think of this Doug, because it seems like you talk down to atheists who “need” your content. I’m saying yes, I need content like yours because it keeps my life on track in some weird way.
ОтветитьIt was a great event, and there was no blustering from the sensible Line people.
The management needs to exercise more caution because having level-headed dudes who don't get triggered in control of the show might give their show credibility.
I read all the text from @The Line is a biggest woke biggit😅
ОтветитьPeople who leave religion often continue to stand on their (newly adopted) moral high ground and shun others. That’s too bad.
ОтветитьThe "crowd" is pretty rough on "The line" when you dont follow their particular atheist party line. I think Paulogia summed it up best when he said the audience was there for the bloodsport. Its a shame. Many of them are just as close minded as theists.
ОтветитьI thought Doug managing to sneak on a Line show would be an opportunity to mend bridges and start a dialogue. Especially since he had a good conversation with Eric and Paul. But then I saw the end of the video and it seems like the point was never to get his points accross... but to make fun of the Line's audience? What was acctually accomplished here?
ОтветитьI find that Dilihunty is only a skeptic on a single issue. I mentioned this on one of there shows and was kicked out of their chat.
ОтветитьAnd those comments are why I struggle to want to date atheist. I don't mind disagreement, but I don't care for dogmatic beliefs on either side.
Ответить@Pinecreek brings up a great point about "us vs them" . Atheists are what they claim to hate .they Cancel same as Excommunicating...they have moral dogmas, see trans and race issues..they also have their own apocalypse, see climate change. What hurts Christians are the "preachy" ones but the Left are WORST at preching at people and Atheists are atrached to the left whether they like it or not.
ОтветитьPeople be strange.
ОтветитьPinecreek is a gadfly, which is fancy speak for troll. We all knew this but we didn’t complain because he was trolling people we disagreed with. We can’t really complain about it now.
ОтветитьFor many atheists, atheism is just the theological dogma of their ideology. All of the talk about reason, skepticism, and so on is just a pretty coat of paint over their political ideology.
ОтветитьI don't get why people are so against people just having a conversation.
ОтветитьI knew this call would be fantastic because these guys can think. If Matt, Arden, or Jimmy are on, pure garbage.
Shannon use to be ok but she gets bullied by Arden. Then she gets all angry and her brain shuts off lol
I guess you're a bigot for the simple fact that you have an opinion that shows reality for what it is. I guess that makes me a bigot as well.
ОтветитьProfessional eggshell walkers
ОтветитьLooks like the line needs to purge some of their mods.
ОтветитьI wonder if Matt Dillahunty is going to throw a fit that these guys let you on the show
ОтветитьI think you did call to talk about yourself and the comment montage is the evidence.
ОтветитьTheir tolerance really shows.
ОтветитьI won't hate Doug for his opinion on one issue, & I wish The Line's main people could argue more dispassionately, but this was a disingenuous waste of time. Nothing of substance; just called to poke the bear(s) without arguing about anything, so as to not risk lending any legitimacy to the hate. That hate may or may not be justified to varying degrees, but it should be set aside for the sake of making actual, honest, arguments.
Jimmy saying Doug deep faked Matt was completely dishonest, unless Doug has published that bit out of context, because in the context I've seen he didn't present it as something Matt actually said; it was just a more advanced way of showing a comparison, instead of saying "imagine Matt said this." Which especially sucks because I think that comparison was wrong, so that argument could be won without resorting to dishonesty or pearl clutching
Well done, pretty good example of equal and opposite intolerance lol
ОтветитьNot sure what the comment montage at the end is supposed to resemble? Help me out Doug
ОтветитьCome on, Doug. Some of those comments were funny. 😁
ОтветитьPinecreek may be a bigot, but he's a kind bigot. A WONDERFUL bigot.
ОтветитьThose comments at the end, the channel itself cussing at Pinecreek and telling him he can't call in.
Yeesh, the unabashed hatred is so ridiculous.
Glad the host were at least cordial, although they are guest.
So glad I’m out of the angry atheist phase. Its was so exhausting.
ОтветитьI remember I was banned from the line for merely making a comment what was was questioning trans suicide rates and Matt said my name and banned me right on the spot. Sounds like religion hasnt left them at all.
ОтветитьI checked out the comment section on that video. Congrats Doug, you’ve made a lot of people lose their minds!
ОтветитьI finally took Matt Dillahunty's advice. No longer a fan. He does some good work, but nothing I cant get from others who are less blinded by their own bias.
ОтветитьPineCreek is totally right, intuitions alone are the only reason people believe in God. Kind of like how intuitions alone tell me that my car was designed by an engineer
ОтветитьWhen I share a controversial video, I try to spin my sales pitch to get OPPONENTS to come look at it. You might choose titles that appeal to believers in order to draw more to view them.
ОтветитьWhile I'm unable to watch Dillahunty these days (Too much rage and anger issues, too much irrational cursing and bullying, and a poor example of representing atheism), I find Doug much worse in virtually all areas. They are both intellectually incurious in areas outside of religion (Which isn't bad in and of itself, they just act and speak on issues as if they know more than how they represent). FWIW, people who are still using "woke" as a pejorative are simply ignorant. Same with those who ignorantly spout off about the "far left" or try to make a false equivalence between theists and atheists (Not close), or the right vs the left, (Again not close). And Dillahunty is as far removed from being on the left as Doug in, save for one or two issues.
As an agnostic, atheist, sentientist, I'm 100%, full stop, convinced that there is no Abrahamic God. No Moses, no Abraham, no Noah or David or Jesus as described in the Bible and no Jewish slaves in Egypt. And with none of those guys along with no Adam and Eve which means no original sin (Sick concept), hence no need for God the sacrifice himself for a weekend for all mankind.
While there is no God of the Bible, and no deity who has any concerns for the comings and goings of life on this planet, I remain agnostic about the possibility oy a deity somewhere who could care less about this planet, though I place such a possibility of a deity along the same continuum I reserve of Leprechauns and Elves.
And please, The Democratic Party isn't even in the same ballpark as left, they're terrible, it's just that Trump and the GOP are much more obviously evil. Both right wing parties serve to keep us divided while they laugh all the way to the bank, terrorize and slaughter millions of innocent men, women and children throughout the world, and insure that the US remains the most violent and terrorist nations in the world as well as being one of the least free, corrupt and unequal nations in the world.
You guys should move to atheist countries, such as China, North Korea, etc.
ОтветитьI think Paul, out of that group of people, might juuust be susceptible to reason on the crazy woke stuff. I mean, he was a true believer Christian, and a good one, but he does have the capacity to be quite careful intellectually. But Shannon, she's not. Big trouble there if Paul gets curious and does due diligence on the trans rhetoric nonsense they've got going on on the line. Oh, and you were wrong with that AI voiceover stuff with Matt, I know you have the fig leaf of the disclaimer, but it doesn't matter, that was in bad taste. Matt's an idiot and a total d i c k but .. I dunno you should probably do a retraction or something on that.
Ответитьbtw, this was NOT streamed on my channel when it happened. I synced my video with the audio in post.
