Co-hosts Ed Markiewicz and Lee Linn join bookseller and book fair promoter Richard Mori, The Road Warrior, to welcome to the show New York bookseller Joe Maynard, who is also a songwriter, hiker and art and music lover.
Joe shares tales of his experiences in the book trade, including the time he had to clean out a deceased man’s apartment and the discoveries that led him to learning about an Oregon internment camp for conscientious objectors during World War 2. That led into his early explorations of the Beat movement in the 1950s in San Francisco.
The discussion seems to inspire Ed Markiewicz to pursue an article for an upcoming issue of Book Lovers’ Paradise Magazine on the phenomenon of combing through dead people’s collections, something familiar to book and paper sellers and collectors. You can read the first two issues of the magazine at the links below.

Joe will be an exhibitor at the Books in Boston, the Shadow Show to the Boston International Book Fair. The Shadow Show will be November 9, 2024 at the Hilton Back Bay at 40 Dalton Street in Boston.
