Amen 🙏🏼
ОтветитьWhy we lust? To procreate
ОтветитьBeautiful Amen 🙏
ОтветитьStarted my journey to Christ within an Orthodox Church but me and my partner are not married. 3 kids in. Seem to butt heads a lot almost every time we interact, and loss of respect. Idk if we should get married. Going to try and ask my churches Father what we should do. / I do.
ОтветитьI just hope there is more to life than this loneliness Father, God be with you and bless your parish.
ОтветитьOur “virus” of lust?
Didn’t God create sex too? Interesting how God solves problems that are his creation.
Easy for you to say: you are married, you have children. You the married priests have no solutions, no empathy and no hope to give to the people that are alone in life. The maximum that yoy xan say is: they should go to become monks. .you have no solution for a big and complex problem of modern society. .lonely people
ОтветитьMarriage existed before Christianity though.
ОтветитьFocus on the Family states that a civil marriage ceremony is valid in God's eyes. While a church ceremony can be a significant and meaningful part of a marriage, it is not a prerequisite for a marriage to be recognized as valid by God. Jesus was critical of religious leaders who focused on outward rituals and traditions while neglecting genuine faith and compassion according to some sources. He rebuked the Pharisees, says one source, highlighting the importance of internal renewal rather than simply following rules.
Jesus's Emphasis on Relationship:
Jesus taught about a personal relationship with God, emphasizing love for God and neighbor, rather than strict adherence to religious laws.
Jesus's Fulfilling the Law:
Jesus's teachings, including the concept of the Last Supper, can be interpreted as fulfilling and elevating the Jewish faith, rather than discarding it. He established a new covenant through faith in him, according to some sources. Acts 7:48-49
King James Version
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
Why not? What about women who are barren? Or have lost their children through divorce or death are you condemning women to live alone?you sound sexist!god never said to be that either!!
ОтветитьThe bible condones many types of marriage besides the most commonly known monogamous marriage between a man and a woman out of love. This man says one purpose for marriage is to solve the lust problem. Yet the bible condones polygamy which to me seems just another expression of lust. Reproduction of the image of God is another reason he presents for marriage, but, if you look at how the bible condones men having concubines, it doesn't quite mesh with this purpose. It doesn't serve the purpose of reproduction and concubines were often slaves or servants anyway. Its almost as if this type of 'marriage' supports other 'vices' like control and domination. The same would be true of the marriage between a slave and their master in general as supported by the bible. Similarly, the bible's support for marrying prisoners of war has a similar moral issue behind it. Forcing women to marry their rapists is another example from the bible that obviously doesn't mesh with anything he is saying. Now the arranged marriages the bible support seems to contradict this idea that marriage is for nourishing a consecrated friendship where the two love one another. Marrying inherited widows is similar to this as well. It very convenient to take cultural mores of the times, then go back to the bible to find justification for it while ignoring all the other marriage types the bible condones but since they don't fit our current culture, we just ignore them. Very convenient when attempting to tell people what the bible says and implying how rational and sensible it supposedly is.
ОтветитьHypothetically speaking, what if a husband and wife can’t have kids? They could still fulfill the 3rd reason, but do they have to fulfill all 3 reasons to get married? I’m just very curious
ОтветитьThis is so hard
ОтветитьThere are people who know that either themselves or the other person can't have kids, but still love each other and want to get married. What about these cases? Also, there are people who get married later in life, what about them? I know this should be discussed with one's spiritual father, because it requires discernment, just sharing the questions here in public.
Ответить☦️
ОтветитьSo then according to this if a human is single and past child production agae they should stay single forever????
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьLove this. But I would have liked to hear the picture of Christ and the church as the Word states. These three things may allude to it
ОтветитьYour spouse should first act as a mirror. Learn from each other, respect each other and overcome solitary thinking. Then you make room for the holy spirit. You become one spirit in two bodies. Nourish each other's growth in Christ, support each other's perspective and communicate. That is deep friendship. That is true love. When you both discover and get lost in Christ.
ОтветитьMy dads a jackass
ОтветитьMy husband and I were not able to have children. He is my best friend and I love him so much, I can’t imagine my life without him. We’ve been married for almost 24 years and still going strong!
ОтветитьBeautiful
ОтветитьGod bles you
ОтветитьAs far as I understand, divorce is not allowed in the Orthodox Church. Is that true?
ОтветитьMarriage’s original intent had nothing to do with overcoming lust, because lust didn’t exist. It was about finding pleasure in your partner. I get his point though. In a fallen world it does protect from lust.
Ответить😢
ОтветитьNot everyone can have children
Ответить"No one should contemplate marriage without children"? I don't remember reading that. Please don't make things up. I have prayed on it, but truthfully children is not a desire God put into my heart, although s husband sounds nice, and I have been given plenty of great skills such as cooking. People are allowed to get married and not have kids, that is not a sin. How foolish to demand
ОтветитьMy husband, my best friend, my soulmate❤ we can't have kids but we are family, l and he❤
ОтветитьIf God gives me a family I will love them in his honor.
ОтветитьWhat if you're barren and fall in love?
ОтветитьBeautiful thanks 😊
ОтветитьGod bless them🙌❤️✝️✨️
Ответить3rd Wave Feminism + Sexual Revolution + 1970s No Fault Divorce Laws + 50 Shades of Grade + 175 Billion Dollar per year Divorce Industry + 15B Porn Industry = 50% US Divorce Rate. A Godless country deserves all of this. Our children do not.
ОтветитьGod is good
ОтветитьAnyone who says reason #1 for marriage is to cure lust is insane. Reason #1 is "it is not good for man to be alone". That came straight from God's mouth.
ОтветитьHow long has this man been in a healthy and loving marriage??
Ответитьmarriages based on children rarely are loving and healthy. I don't believe God wants us to be miserable in marriage
ОтветитьMen still lust for other women when married
ОтветитьUnfortunately, the over emphasis on children as a main purpose of marriage as well as this idea of sort of “escaping” from lust is not Orthodox. Children can be an important part, yes, but oftentimes Orthodoxy in America misses this for the aim.
The purpose of marriage in Orthodoxy is that the two become one, and this is a life long process of self emptying to be filled by the other. In the same way that we understand each member of the Trinity empties themselves to be filled by the other.
What the hell are you talking about. God didnt create marriage to overcome lust. Only god can free a man from lust. I can be married and still want to have relations with other women. Its sad to see that these men are practising in chruches as bishops with these outrageous nonsences. More proof that todays church is satans.
ОтветитьHey
ОтветитьCFADD IS THE FAMILY MINSTRY WE ALL NEED!
ОтветитьCan it really be as a remedy to lust considering Adam and Eve had not felt lust until after the fall? Maybe today we see it this way but from the beginning it was not so.
ОтветитьSo eat cake to lose weight. Good advice
ОтветитьIt's so much more and deeper than that. It's a one flesh union, that is intended to reflect Christ and The church.
ОтветитьYep and that's why I'm staying single for life. Praise the Lord.
ОтветитьWhy does he look and sound like Benedict Cumberbatch?
ОтветитьListen to your heart, not men in funny outfits who pretend to have all the answers.
ОтветитьSome people can't have children though.
