The early explorers are for 99.9% no explorers at all, just treasure hunters. Ripping anything they could to up their own bank accounts. It has nothing to do with exploring nor with painting a picture for us all about true history.
Ответитьel dorado was a ploy to get the europeans out of their homes. they knew the greed of the europeans would drive them to the rainforest, meeting their demise
ОтветитьAmazing video
ОтветитьDuh. When the Sahara was green, the Amazon was a savanna.
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьDid anyone else get nostalgic Age of Empires vibes from the music in this video???
ОтветитьI was enjoying the video until the guy said "more racist theories" and then I lost all respect. Then I realized it was Vox.
ОтветитьThe size of new Jersey?? How big is the Amazon?!?!
ОтветитьGood o'l Vox making sure they get the word "colonizer" in as much as possible. Just a reminder, the native people were once colonizers themselves. Many wars were fought over this land before the Europeans arrived.
ОтветитьHancock brought me here
ОтветитьSo in short they were so eco friendly that they were wiped from the history when they were finished being wiped by foregin disease 😢
Ответитьgreat narrative
Ответитьlol avatar people
ОтветитьThere really isn't any ACTUAL proof that 90% of the population was ever killed by disease. And there is absolutely zero proof that if we did bring disease, that it's that disease that emptied these cities...
Ответитьhumanoids. not humans
ОтветитьI noticed you were able to get the word "RACISM" in there .
ОтветитьOne tiny correction my friend, Percy being British would not have called the lost city "Zee" . The correct pronunciation is "Zed"
ОтветитьJust finished listening to the audiobook The Lost City of Z by David Grann, it was great to watch this video and actually see Percy Fawcett. Fascinating story and a tragic end to a culture. I highly recommend the book.
ОтветитьBut… where are the bodies? Bones? I understand moist humid weather but millions of bones… something must have survived… Asking for a friend.
ОтветитьHe called the city '"ZED" not zee! Only Americans pronounce this letter of the alphabet zee! Fawcett was English!
ОтветитьHow come you never use the word "colonist"?
ОтветитьBeing British, I'm sure, Percy called the lost city "zed"...
ОтветитьThe Black soil in the Amazon was man-made. As any modern agriculturist will tell you, using charcoal can sweeten acidic or alkaline soils. They are found in patches, which points to regular movement of villages and farms across the landscape. They were farmers, with hunting and gathering as a supplement to their diet.
Ответить"racist theories" ? maybe it was the cutting out the hearts of the human sacrifices or the fact that they was using primitive technology like stone tools .
ОтветитьTidal desert
ОтветитьWe gave them there ones the disease spreading identity
ОтветитьWe can only imagine settlements like this also existing in the Saara before it became a desert.
Ответитьhow did he send a letter tho
Ответитьbasically outer banks lore
ОтветитьJust to steal their gold 😢glad they never found them haha!
ОтветитьDeep in the Amazon rainforest. Look at the map, and you can see how much deforestation has happened since 1925. Very sad to see...
ОтветитьThe suggestion that people living in huts may not be sophisticated enough to build huge cities has absolutely nothing to do with race and is not racist.
ОтветитьThe Outer Banks writers really could have taken notes here
ОтветитьIt's not racist to note that a society hasn't reached the same levels (economically, politically, socially, etc.) as another. It's racist to say that a race is superior or inferior, but me saying that Western Europe achieved more than other areas by specific times isn't.
You all are a little too woke to follow closely, unfortunately.
How did people/civilizations FIT IN BETWEEN ALL THOSE TREES?!
ОтветитьSpanish conquistadors not colonizers big difference
ОтветитьIf we could only implement some of their respect for the earth
Ответитьthe europeans were such clowns. ruined so many cultures and civilizations
ОтветитьAs background, loose the drums.
ОтветитьThe amount of devastation the European colonists left in the wake of their sprawl, by disease and various intolerances, is comparable to SEVERAL genocides. It really is disgusting...
ОтветитьAll this time our indigenous people are always put down but we can’t figure it out how where and why. They did what they did or built what they built… come to think we’re the ones with lack of intelligence.
ОтветитьBut where’s the gold?
ОтветитьIf only vox wasn’t corrupt
ОтветитьIt's in Georgia,USA
ОтветитьI wonder if these discoveries could pave the way for sustainable protection of the rainforest while enriching the lives of those living around it, as it seems these were prospering communities which managed to live without damaging the rainforest significantly?
ОтветитьThat's is not your jungle.. didn't you have your jungle Mr sun flowers oil??
Ответить
