The Aberfan Disaster Memorial Garden 2024

Mossfords Memorial Masons were commissioned by the Aberfan Memorial Charity to entirely renovate all stonework at the Aberfan Memorial Garden. All existing stone was meticulously removed and replaced with locally sourced Pennant stone that displays beautiful colours in all weather.

September 2024 saw the completion of new resin pathways throughout by Element who were selected to provide a visually stunning, uniform, seamless appearance to the original concrete paved pathways.

The Aberfan Memorial Garden stands on the site of the former Pantglas Junior School and commemorates the 116 children and 28 adults who died in the Aberfan Disaster of 21 October 1966.

The Garden is of huge importance to the bereaved parents, sibling next of kin, survivors and the whole community, as well as the thousands of visitors who come to pay their respects every year from around the world.
